Lightning fast. Very impressive.. is there some kind of processing on the drums too?

That's a midi kit. Even the cymbals are those new midi cymbals - notice that they are basically a mesh - they don't make much acoustic sound.

It would be very easy to fake that video - record the midi and then speed up the video. But it's certainly possible to play that fast, and being midi you can get very even hits - or even clean up the midi after recording it.

he's playing over the actual track which is a venetian snares track so he may not be playing a !00% to the beat but he is pretty damn close.

Yeah, you can see the trigger cables running down the cymbal stands.

It looked like real playing to me. My first thought was this drummer spent a lot of time in a marching band.

Also: that was a really nicely lit and framed shot.
