MIDI Slaving Yamaha DX200 to DSI Tempest Sequencer

Hi guys,

Forgive me for this entry-level question...

I'm trying to slave a Yamaha DX200 to a DSI tempest via midi. I want the Tempest to send transport start/stop midi data i.e., to drive the sequencer in the DX200.

In the Tempest's settings, I set it to MIDI master. And in the DX200's settings, I set it to slave. I plugged in a 5-pin midi cable from the out on the Tempest to the in on the DX200. When I press play on the Tempest transport, the tempest sequencer starts running but the DX200 does not. Any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it?

Also, can I use the sequencer in the Tempest to sequence notes on the DX200?

Did you set the Tempest's clock out to Midi port, USB, both, or none?

On the Yamaha you selected the same midi channel e.g. midi 2 or all ??

Did you try pressing the play button on the DX200 so it'll await incoming clock signals?

MIDI clock is omni, i.e. it does not have a channel.
