Genelec 8020 or 8030 when used with 7050 sub?

Hi-

I need new monitors and they need to be small enough to fit on my desk. I have neighbors so can't crank but want high quality and transparent sound. Genelec 8020 and 8030 both fit the size requirements and wondering if I added the 7050 sub if the 8020's would already do it, or if I should spend more for 8030s.

Another (cheaper) option would be Yamaha HS-5s with the HS-8S sub.

Opinions please!

any sub added will drive your neighbors nuts - i have first hand experience.

I used to BLAST my 5.5 inch monitors - never a complaint in 6 years. then i added a sub, FIRST DAY... and many many other days people called the manager.

Damn. Not what I wanted to hear. Then I guess I need 8030s as the 20s probably have zero bass on their own, right?

get focal CMS50 - they should have enough bass and you can double check in car

I use 8030s and perfectly happy with them, my studio is very small so bigger monitors or a Sub would just be counter productive with bass resonating.

8030s are perfect for small rooms
