Where are the 128 Filters on the EMU Ultras?

Hello,

i have an EMU E 5000 Ultra, which i thought has 128 Z-Plane Filters... I can only count a few of them in the filter page. EOS is 4.61 so what is this about the 128 Filter types???

Yes, and the Emulator X3 was the last to offer them.

you mixed something up. its 128 hardware voices and each has a hardware filter, so there's 128 of them obviously. but not 128 different filter types to choose from.

this is from the manual:

"The digital hardware implements up to 128 “analog-sounding” Z-plane
filters with many different filter types.
12, 24, or 36 dB/octave Low-pass filters with resonance
2nd & 4th order High-pass filters with resonance
2nd & 4th order Band-pass filters with resonance
Contrary Band-pass filter
Three types of swept EQ filters
Three Phasers and one Flanger with resonance
Six powerful Morphing filters"

i have checked the filters again and i count 21 of them. Is there any difference between the eos versions?

Let me check my Emulator X3, it has the same filters as the last gen of Emu hardware synths.

It's saying 128 filters. 1 for each voice, various types, not 128 different ones

My ESI-2000 has all of those (also has Emulator III Low Pass) and two of the morphing (the vowel filters?). I thought the higher end EMU samplers would have a lot more filter types.

I would hate a machine having 128 only slightly different filter types (we are talking just filtering right?). From usability standpoint it would be horrible.

There are 21 filter choices possible in an E5000 - I just counted mine also. I have the latest rev, I think 4.7.

The operative phrase here is " up to " 128 filters. Yes, it is referring to each voice having a filter. It is good marketing copy. The E5000 actually only has 64 voices, not 128. The manuals are for EOS, not model specific.

Some had 128 voices, depends on the model.
