Effect and Synth for Chris Brown - Nobodys perfect

Hello.

I am really in love with the song which leaked a while ago by Chris Brown - Nobodys Perfect. This was prod by Lukas Hilbert and Showtek

Chris Brown - Nobody's Perfect (Official Track)With Lyrics - YouTube

I was wondering how you do the tape stop effect on the main synth. This kind of effect is on almost every edm song out there lol
Its not exactly like a tape stop effect because it doesnt stop completely.
Ive tried using effectrix and glitch but didnt work...

Almost do you know how I can create a similiar synth to the main synth?
I think its layered by many synths but dont know what kind of synth.

Thx!

Render to audio, automate pitch down, don't use a linear automation curve.

Define "main synth" - at how many seconds does it kick in? Sounds like a plain supersaw with a slightly different melody playing on top.

Why render to audio??
Oh I use logic pro by the way

The one thats playing the melody. you can clearly hear on the hook 1:05. Its hicut on the verses.

effectrix didnt quite work since the effect isnt really a complete tape stop effect like i told you on my first post.

The effect in the chrisbrown song can easily be done in effectrix, use it all the time. Just select the end of the vinyl bar and set the speed to 1/4th (edit: or 1/2th) . Set steepness to 100 instead of 50 if you like and you're done.

If you really want it to stop (i don't see why) you just paint some more vinyl bars so it the synth does't come up again, or you just simply increase the release. But again, I don't see why you want this as after the tape effect the synth should be normal again to play the other notes.

Goodluck

I dig Chris Brown but I'm not familiar with that track.

I think most of his effects are done in MAX- Max is powerful software.

Because it's several tracks at once slowing down and because it's easier than fiddling around for an hour with a plugin that may or may not do what you want.

Another possibility is to put Effectrix on your group bus.

Just 'SLAP' Effectrix on it. It even works on 'BEATS'. Just don't 'ABUSE' it if you know what I mean.

The way stiba told me worked thx!!
I was choosing the last 8 bars but sounded better by selecting the last 4 bars.
By the way in this CB song is the effectrix(Dont know if hes using it but) put on the output? or is it put only on the synths??

Also I still cant find similiar sounds like the main synth used on this song...

I won't put on your stereo out but like I said on a group bus because you don't want the drums to fade. Just make sure the synths you want to fade don't go to your streo out but to a bus first and put effectrix on that bus, simple as that.

As for the main synth. Like Yoozer said, it sounds like a supersawish hoover sound which can be done in sylenth for example. One advice: don't copy the status quo, but instead set new standards. At least try to.

no need to bounce anything or use effectix or anything like that because it's NOT a tape stop effect, it's a 2 octave pitch bend

just try it if you don't believe me, I did it recently in this track at, check at around :56

Yep, it's interesting how people know all about Effectrix - but not that it's a simple -24 bend. You can also accentuate it by automating a filter, be it on the actual synth OR everything but the synth (hint: you should probably try that).

Of course I know..... But since the OP purchased effectrix and argued it couldn't do that specific effect I just wanted to prove it actually can.

If the synth is already bounced and you've got no control, all you have to do chop out that one note, throw it into the ESX24, max out pitch-bend and draw in a slope down. If you're on 9+, you can automatically turn it into an ESX24 patch by right-clicking and making it a midi-track,

vari-fi comes default in protools so I'd lean towards that for this McDonald's fast food **** music.

Im guessing the render to audio is to resample the sound to pitch up and down for effect. But on a different note, why are so many people from the new school afraid of printing to audio? I always get the same reaction. Its like if its printed and not midi anymore the worlds going to collapse under them. Just try it!

thx for the suggestions guys.
But I think Effectrix does exactly the job i want.
Its the easiest way, just put it on the busses. no need to render or write automation or anything.

Please reconsider.
This is easier, sounds better and is what people do.

Draw a slope in when you're composing. Done. That simple.

Why are you afraid of automation? It's incredibly simple.

I was too lazy automating my layered basses and synths...
It was easier for me to just put in the plugin and done.
Dont most of the producers do it this way? Nicky Romero uses effectrix to do these kind of effects. I will use the automation way if it is better than effectrix tho.
This is what happened when I used effectrix. I think it sounds ok for the effect I want.
What do you think??

Sounds like you used Effectrix.
All you have to do is draw in a god damn line. Takes a tenth of the time it takes to do it with Effectrix and it'll sound a hell of a lot smoother since it's not just an audio effect.

I'm out of this thread now, I don't want to say it for a fifth time.

I've done it with 5+ instances before, just copy paste the pitch bend....
