They got onto the Monotron train too heh

But let's see Pulse 2 finished first and 64-bit for PPG Wave V.3 and Largo, how about that, Waldorf?

From the video:
"With Rocket Waldorf introduces a new mini synthesizer that boasts a feature set uncommon in its class. With its advanced oscillator section this small black cube can generate sharp edged leads, gargantuan basses as well as vast synthesizer soundscapes that can resound as an 8-voice chord if desired. (All sounds in this demo were created with Rocket synthesizer, except drums, samples were used here.) SRP 205,- Euro plus taxes

Tech specs:
• Analog multimode-filter (VCF) with Low Pass / Band Pass / High Pass
• VCF-input
• Highly flexible oscillator-section with pulse width modulation and hard sync
• Up to 8 oscillators in unison for chords or Ultra High Density Sawtooth
• Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) for modulation
• Envelopes for VCA, VCF and Sync
• Booster circuit to generate aggressive sounds
• Arpeggiator with different rhythmic patterns
• Glide
• USB powered
• MIDI in and out
• Extensive control panel with high-end pots and switches
• Control via MIDI and USB
• MIDI clock sync
• Line output
• Loud headphone output
• Launch key for easy pre listening
• Made in Germany
"

So it's a virtual analog with analog filter?

Interesting concept. Not sure how a monobox these days will do with all the competition though.

Well this time they have audio.

Looks very cut-down for a Waldorf. Monotribe competitor.

A fantastic product line from Waldorf. Here is what it would look like if we actually made something. Bravo!

In light of previous comments I've made, this is pretty amusing.

I still think they should have done something more wavetable-y with the oscillator section though.

And named it after Grace Jones :-P

So, while the filter is analog, the oscilator is digital?

I wish they made actual synthesizers and not just CGI mockups. The specifications sounds like hybrid of the Blofeld and the Pulse 2.

It's polyphonic.

Oops, I don't know that. I saw "up to 8 oscs" and read it as 8 voices... I think I was suffering from wishful thinking.

Paraphonic more likely; I doubt there's more than one analog filter in that hypothetical box.

I don't know, man, it does say it can play chords.

Sounds Like A New Waldorf Microwave if it's polyphonic!
At a fraction of the cost but the same kind of idea as the new DSI synth will surely be popular.

Inb4 the video isn't all made on the Rocket. Watch the Rocket just be the bassline.

No polyphony

p17 of the manual :

"Special case: If Sawtooth is selected and the poly saw mode is active with a maximum value of the Wave parameter: With maximum setting of the Tune parameter you will get an unisono mode where all 8 oscillators will play the incoming MIDI notes. This is no real polyphony but will allow playing chords."

Paraphony only as said. You surely know that true polyphony requires one filter per voice. 10 voice polyphony would mean 10 analog filters (and envelopes and lfos and VCAs). That can't be expected in a 250 Euro box.

Where's the confusion? It's clearly the guts of their Pulse 2 design, but without the software control stuff that was supposedly causing them trouble.

I wonder what they're hoping to price this thing. The Monotribe is currently 166 euro on Thomann and the Mopho is 333. So it would need to have a great sound to price itself above the more feature rich Mopho :-/

Edit: Seen the estimated price there now.

No, the oscillators seem to be digital. On the manual there's a calibration procedure for the analog filter but no mention for the oscillators...

seems to me like Waldorf are struggling, It's a step back from the Pulse 2 but at 200 euros they could be jumping on the impulse buy bandwagon started by Korg. It could backfire though as i think a few people have lost their trust to deliver.

so far it's a vague spec sheet, a short audio file and a 3d product animation

i have a blofeld so i know they can make cool stuff.

It all makes them look like they're a step behind everyone else and trying to keep up when they could be doing their own thing.
