Hi acidfuji,
I have a Roland mc50 mk2 also and have ordered the gotek SFR1M44-U100K
Do you have experiences you want to share with me? Will the gotek drive easily replace the 3,5 diskdrive? Is it simply Or complicaties? Are there issues I should know? Thanks! Ivar
I can also confirm that my SFRM72-TU100K works in my Roland MC-50. Both read and write work with jumper settings are JA, S1 and MO (2, 6 and 7).
You do not need to flash any program or do any formating.
What you need to do is :
1. After starting the machine, put your usb stick in.
2. Choose 001 on the Gotek by pressing the right button under the light once.
3. Use the utility of the MC-50 to initialize the disk.
4. Et voilà. You are ready to save...
The only thing you can't do is save your song again with the same name (not like a word document). Then the disk won't work anymore and you will end up with an error message when trying to load again.
When you start your MC-50 again, just put the stick after the machine is ready and choose again the 001 on the Gotek. Everything is there again ;-)
I've spent hours trying everything I read online and nothing worked.
This way is so simple it will save you a lot of time.
