How far do you sit from your screen?

How far do you sit from your screen when working in your (semi) permanent working location (assuming you use a DAW)? was just measuring from screen to eyeball and got about 28" with my current setup when in a relaxed typing position - which I assume is a fairly typical distance since this is just a cheapo flatpack desk from staples

I'm contemplating increasing my desk space by putting a monitor stand behind my desk and putting the LCDs on it - trying it out right now with one of my LCDs and it's not shabby, although I increased DPI slightly to compensate - the monitor now sits about 34" from my eyeball when I'm in a relaxed typing position

who else has tried this and how did it work out for you? a friend said he tried something similar but he didn't like having the screen that far away (but maybe he just needs to wear his glasses?)

I just measured and I sit about 40" away. I have my speaker on a stand below my desk so I'm viewing it form a \ angle.

It basically looks like this \ ---

Hope that makes sensem also the bottom of my screen sits below 3" and 7" away from my desk.

Too close, honestly. About 18" guestimate. And I lean in while reading...I really need to get my glasses fixed...

About 2.5 meter away, between me and the monitor there is a large mixing desk.

That’s why I bought a 47” TV. No way I could see anything with my old 24” LCD screen that far.

22 inches. Which is still too far. My prescription is 11 diopters, and I have astigmatism. Even with the best correction I've been able to get, my vision isn't that great.

if i stick my arm out in front of me my finger tips are about an inch away from the screen. i don't know how long my arm is but i'm tall so probably have longer than average arms.

very helpful - seems like either way I'm well within the 40" outer boundary of OSHA guidelines

definitely keep those sexy monitor arms in mind for the future

Typically 25 to 35 inches I guess... depends on if I'm slouched forward or not. :P

It's an interesting question because if you wear reading glasses, it becomes a real factor especially if other gear is further away. I have two 22" LCD monitors but I have been thinking about replace them with a 37" 120Hz. Getting old sux.

Fairly close. I use my desk to prop my arm which props my head, a lot. To compensate, I dimmed my monitor and I have a dim light that sits at an angle as to not directly light the screen. So now I can sit close and I've convinced myself I am not doing that much damage to my eyes!
