Daniel Lanois and Tchad Blake at the top of my list, probably T Bone Burnett, Steve Earle and Charlie Sexton as well.

Though not technically "producers", I had the pleasure to meet and talk with at great length with Kavi Alexander a number of years back. That conversation has inspired me to this day. I also met Chris Whitley a handful of times and he was almost certainly the most truly beautiful human being I have ever come in contact with. Barely a day goes by that I don't ponder what was lost with his passing. I've still never listened to his last album, "Soft Dangerous Shores". It's right here on my desk, in the wrapping, but just can't bring myself to do it yet.

Edit: Gotta mention Steve Jordan. Hell, even just to play with him!

Great list so far... Im actually surprised at the diversity and inspired by it.

I would like to work with Bill Laswell. Hes just done so many different albums in different styles, yet its all cohesive. Not to mention his bass rig is SICK...

I would want to study with Trent Reznor, or Thom Yorke.

I suppose I could learn something from Wolfgang Gartner or Diplo.

As far as traditional composition, Arnold Schoenberg.

The Basic Channel folks during the 90's, definitely would like to learn a trick or two about dub techno production.

Moodymann and Theo Parrish - I'm a big fan of deep house but I suck at making it so learning some insider tricks would definitely make me a better producer.

Carl Craig - I would like to know how to get that huge sound of his.
+1 for all of these!
