His music production ideas, not his personal life. (Which reminds me Brian Wilson & Rick James!) Wall of sound, the "Be My Baby" drum beat, etc.

@acreil. Thanks for the info. When I thought about the question at first I was going to list people that were involved in all of those records. Although sometimes different albums! I'd add in Yamantaka Eye (There is still time for this to happen, heh but I gotta improve), Scott La Rock, plus a ton of people from the krautrock scene as well(Klaus Dinger, Holger Czukay, Florian Fricke etc). I've been listening to a lot of Richard Pinhas lately, very interesting, sure, that'd be fun too!

I was just working on a track where the basis was imagining Isao Tomita doing the soundtrack to Alien and Aliens.

I mean, I'd like Lou Reed and Serge Gainsbourg to write songs for me...And while we are in fantasy land, I want to use everything EMS made, so whoever owns all that would be a great mentor. (If you are out there PM me!)

Production & Recording? There are too many to list, most of the previously listed greats I suppose.

+1 the obvious greats like Eno, Daniel Miller etc.

+1 Fagen and Becker - I wouldnt have thought of them but those Steely Dan albums from the mid to late 70's are still so perfect

Some cats I'd love to watch that I dont think anyone else mentioned yet:

Royksopp (along with Basement Jaxx best duo of the last decade IMHO)

Eddy Offord (the huge sound of those early 70's prog records still sound fresh, even with all that wanking...err...i mean musicianship going on)

I think some people hear are confusing producer and artist.

Love RDJ but I don't think I'd learn much... my pick is Flood.

Also, .. off topic, but before he dies I'd love to get a record mastered by Porky.
