Help!!! SCI Pro One or Prophet 600?

Yesterday, I Nearly bought a pro one, until I had the chance at a prophet 600, both a relatively the same price, but I couldn't decide. Offer some council Gearslutz?

Are you willing to spend thousands of dollars to build up a big, high-end studio? If so, you should get the Pro-One. While the Prophet 600 is a decent synth, and great bang-for-the-buck, the Pro-One is a "big boy," and would have a place even in a $50,000 studio. And if you are planning a big and expensive studio, the Prophet 600 probably won't cut it (when you could be using a Prophet 5 or OB-Xa for your "Curtis" sound).

Are you looking to put together a solid, cost-effective studio? Then get the Prophet 600. It's a dual VCO synth with classic CEM character, and the closest you can get to one of the "big boys" for under $1000. You can always throw in a budget (under $500) monosynth to take care of bass/leads/arps, but it would me much harder to "throw in" a polyphonic synth with the raw analog sound (and pedigree!) of the Prophet 600.

In other words, the Pro-One is the superior synth (i.e., it's considerably higher up the mono food chain than the Prophet 600 is on the poly food chain), but the Prophet 600 -- especially in light of all the good, budget analog mono choices today -- is probably the better choice for a smaller, budget-minded studio.

But I guess you want an MS-20 now...

i would say away from a P600. that sound can be had from much better synths. the Pro One is raw, gritty, and over the top, not something found in many monosynths.
