The old fave secret weapons? Shin-Ei, Pearl, Yamaha, Lovetone, Korg, Boss, Maxon and Ibanez pedals. Even a vintage ALDI delay (vintage? ha ha ha.)
Absolutely my fave?
Reamping tracks through my tiny $50 9v Fender Tweed in the bottom of an old speaker box. Yeah!

2 really.

Stage tape delay. Amazing box and capable of turning anything that goes through it I to complete trash. (In a good way). Second are my Ensoniq Mirages. Takes any sound and makes it dark and evil sounding.

I'm confident that someone that has a 1:1 copy of my gear makes a totally different use of it, and different music.
that said there are some pieces that shine, add something special.
your fatso, no doubt.

A ratty old pair of Audioarts comps that are just the ticket for reigning in distorted guitars: Warms 'em up and keeps the "digital edge" at bay. A well spent $150!

MXR Micro Chorus. Seriously, a revelation. It's mono, only one knob and no MIDI sync or DAW integration, so you EDM guys can stay clear ;-) But the sound, the sound.

Also forgot to mention - old MU-Tron EFX stomp boxes, they sound so fat for flanging and chorus, if you can get past the noise floor!

Ensoniq MR-61.

As a creative compositional tool, each sequence is a button, and then you can experiment with the order of those sequences very easily.

Also is a great controller and has wonderful action.

Gearslut Capnreverb recommended the Alesis Ineko (desktop version) which is the same thing as the rack version Alesis Akira.

I bought the desktop version of this little multi effects processor and it's FANTASTIC. Great on vocals, but not super hi-fi. That's never been a problem for me, though!

I actually got one of those a few days ago.
+1 for the VP-70. Not only a great box for weirdness when it can't harmonise a drum machine but also a killer chorus super thick chorus unit.

I like to pick up those old brown analogue organs off the footpath that people just throw away these days.

Mostly useless? Yes.

Extremely heavy and bulky? Yes

Occasional beautiful lush tone and interesting oscillator drift and dusty crackly sounds? Yes

Free? Yes

I'll add to my low-end favs...

DBX 120s subharmonic synth... stick that under a kick! (serious secret weapon there)

Line 6 filter rack (can make some great tweaky glitches as I rotate through parameters while feeding a sound)

Mr. Ed distortion pedal (meant to be an eddie van halen brown sound pedal, but killer on some synths!)

There's some good ones for ya'll... share some more of yours!

(IMHO this is Gearslutz at its finest)
