Encoders on a Novation Remote SL Zero

I got a Novation Remote SL Zero yesterday and after playing a bit, I noticed sometimes the encoders didn't work as they should...

Is this problem solvable by cleaning them, or is it likely necessary to change them?

I think the previous owner sold it a low price as he didn't use it for a long time, so if clean is all I have to do in order for them to work 100%, I'm fine with the deal, but if I'll likely need to get them replaced, it wasn't a good deal at all...

If anyone can help, it would be great,

give them a good clean out with contact cleaner if you can get it in there and give it some full turns a 50 times each way . should be much better

from then if you use them regularly they should be ok

Ok, that's just what I needed to know

The guy said to me he didn't use it for a long while, so it is likely that.

I was just afraid that it could be probably that it would need new encoders, and considering that, it wouldn't be worth keeping it, it would be just better to call the seller and try to give it back...

By the way, what kind of product shall I use to clean them?

Hey Paulo,

If this doesn't sort out the problem, get in touch and I can send you some replacements.

All the best,
