Homage to 80s pop. All vintage equip.

I made this song to pay tribute to the 80s pop sounds. i used a linndrum, oberheim obxa, and a prophet 5, all recorded with pro tools then dumped to tape then re recorded in pro tools let me know your opinions... for comp blue i used the linndrum with lm-1 chips installed, and the ob-xa

Thank you for illuminating the fact that I am on the right path of sticking with primarily software for my synthesized sounds!!

Very good job by the way!

The second track sounds like Madonna's early track..

i rarely comment on these threads but this stuff is REAL> Good work, mate! it sounds right... 94% of it is probably the drum programming but programming in general NAILS it...

i really miss cheesy 80's synth music. call me old, i don't care. it was so much more fun then the pop out today. there was crap in the 80's to, but significantly less imho.

like ministry's "with sympathy" i love that album. i don't care what flak i take for that, i love that album.

i wish i could do an album or two of this sound. it's great. just a little throwback and then back down my path of destruction.

Nice 80s vibe. I'm missing some vocals though.

I think the reverb is a bit on the subtle side if you're going for true 80's authenticity!

Hehehe That's the first thing that I thought when listening to the tracks

Great job! I enjoyed both tracks very much. Besides more reverb, I would also add more drum fills, and you can never have too many Linn hand claps in '80s music heh !

P.S. a few super-geeky questions for the synth geeks in here:

1. Did you add any external effects other than the ones in Pro Tools?
2. What brand/model of tape machine did you use, and what brand/model of tape?
3. How many voices in your OB-Xa? heh

This stuff is fantastic! I really wish i had the chops to do stuff like this. Comp Blue was like a cross between Price and a dash of Madonna.
