Can I also add a slight info-correction?

The G5 WILL run Logic 9. It's just not supported.

But can only echo the sentiments posted by everybody else - an iMac (Intel) or MacPro with Logic 9, and you'll be laughing.

There are some SIGNIFICANT updates over the years from Vers 5 to 9 :D
But the essence hasn't changed.

Be mindful that it will be very difficult to import your Logic 5 songs into 9. (There was a way, but you had to go via vers 7 iirc)

Good luck

OP -- I always recommend that you start with the software you want to use and build the computer system around that. If you want to use Logic, then you've got to have a Mac since there's no PC version. Then, some 3rd party stuff won't run on Lion yet, so you want to buy a Mac that's not the latest and greatest but a year or two old.

Beyond that, if you're getting a tower (rather than something portable), the old "buy the most computer you can afford" rule seems to apply. If it does what you want, set it up and "close" the system--avoid constant updating and you'll have a nice stable setup for years.

Good luck.
