How Do I Make This Super Rubbery Bass Sound?

I'm trying to make this resonant rubbery bass sound - sounds a bit like a sheet of rubber being stretched in a tube...

Here is a file with 2 examples:

Rubber.mp3

Its more than just a sawtooth... Any ideas?

It's called distortion. D16 Phoscyon does both examples with ease.

However, there are a lot of distortion types - so shop around. Give the trial of NI Guitar Rig a whirl to explore a bit.

I have no doubt there is distortion involved somewhere in the signal chain, and I own several distortion units, both hardware (analog and digital) and software, but I'm looking for that specific sound, which isn't characteristic of your typical distorted bass.

There is something very clean about that sound, and the low end has a great pop to it... Pay particular attention to the second sample in the mp3. More specific tips would be appreciated.

Its layered. Its just the midbass that have some feedback distortion goin on. Try that.

Sounds like some very short delay 15-30ms with 30% feedback too.

Make sure you've got no keytracking on the filter cutoff - needs to be fixed like the 303. The second one has some sweeping of that cutoff. The distortion adds the edge to it all.

While I am sure the sound demo is not Propellerheads ReBrith, it's distortion sounds quite similar. More like a bit-crushing distrotion effect with wave shaping.

Sounds like Reason's Scream 4 with Body turned on.
