I think one of the biggest 'secrets' is not trying to learn what the artist does, or even what they use, but what they think, and how they think it.

Their philosophy, habits, rabbits, and religion. Sometimes their outlook on life, and how they live are far more important than wondering what some guy puts on a kick drum to compress it or what brand of piano Beethoven played.

7Hz. Seven hertz is all anyone needs to know to have a successful career in music.

Vocal tracks kinda week? Hit 'em with some 7Hz.
Hi-Hat not fitting in the mix? Give it a little of the ole 7Hz.
ITB gotcha feeling down? Add some 7Hz to the mix bus.
Record companies givin' ya the cold shoulder? Whack 'em with the 7Hz.
New album sales not meeting expectations? Slather them with some glorious 7Hz.
No endorsement deals comin' yer way? Strap on some 7Hz for pro recognition.
Wife stifling your creativity and GAS? Slap her with a little 7Hz.

7Hz. It's the tonic for what ails ya.

This is a great quote and I believe it 100% personally.

Unfortunately, it has zero application in the real, competitive world of today.

stop enjoying using your gear and start enjoying the feeling of finishing tracks. stop looking at forums. quit your job. lock yourself away. speak to nobody. live off plain boiled pasta for a year. grow a beard.

Disagree. Once a person fought their inner battles, they can win any.
Also the ones that concern currency.
I got the quote from here
(which has excellent info)
Now I gotta go inside, mosquitos are eating me alive.

i speak from experience.
That sounds like an awesome reason to buy one of your albums!

What do I search for on iTunes/beatport/Amazon/whatever?

Once you've won the battle the Buddha is talking about, you'll see right through that competitive world for the hollow desperate sham that it really is. It's what he lived his life to free people from. The underlying anxieties that filled his time still fuel today's, the difference merely a matter of amplification.

This is why I buffered my reply saying that yes, I agree 100% and live that way PERSONALLY. I won my personal battles long ago.

However, that way of life is ignored by the rest of the competitive world.
I can claim inner peace and "WIN"ness all I want to myself and unto my own self defined world - I'm TOTALLY successful to myself, I'm good with that - but to have a successful "music career" to the rest of the world (as defined by the majority of blinded people) I've got to step out, compete and best the rest.

Since the OP question appeared in a public forum I went on assumption they meant the typical everyman view of music career success and not the individuals self defined version.
