Updating SE1-X OS

Struggling to update the OS in my SE1-X using Cubase.
Anyone had experience of this?

Yeah, I used to have problems dumping from a few DAWs, but this app set me straight.

Sometimes simple is better.

Cubase may filter system exclusive messages by default in the MIDI filter, so if it's a plain MIDI file, disable that filter (or play it by other means). If it's .syx, MIDI OX is what you need.

Its a .mid file and I disabled the sysex filter for THRU
Can midiox work with a .mid?
The support pages on Studio Electronics site are an absolute joke

I think that's because they prefer to be called in person. This may not be really ideal for you w.r.t timezones and stuff, though.

I've tried a couple of times to purchase a manual for my SE-1X from their website. The last time was a couple a months ago. I guess they don't want my money. I don't love the synth any less though. And it really isn't that difficult to figure out. I just like having the manuals for my gear. Slutty OCD.

Cool vid by the way. I'm gassing for a CODE 8 in a big way.

@m0n0mania - Have you tried slowing down the tempo when playing the MID file in Cubase? I have had luck with other gear, by cutting the tempo in half in my DAW when doing an OS update.

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into an SE bashing thread, but the "manual" I have is 12 pages long, the last 3 of which are an addendum to the SE-1 manual covering SE1-X update features.
Is this the one they sell on their site?

Will try 1/2 speed Cubase trick/Midiox once I've had a few coffees, thanks!

Interested to hear how this goes for you, have read reports of guys murdering their SE1x's when trying to update the OS.

Mine's running on v.0.75, what's the latest working OS? Would also be interested to know what they have added, functionality wise. Only thing I've heard is the ability to sync LFOs to your DAW's clock.

Use MidiOX, worked for me, and it only took a few seconds to send the sysex to my Code 8, surprised me....

I sent the wrong OS to it, and then put the right one back, no problems either time
Used an Edirol UM880 midi interface
