New Korg Monotribe?

Just seen over at Korg forums they are talking about a 'Monotribe'

Apparently the names been taken (like Jupiter 80 was).

Sounds like it could be something quite interesting if it involves Electribe and Monotron inards merged.

Apparently there was a Youtube vid, but it got pulled pretty sharpish.

hmmm..... well I guess it is April 1st tomorrow

And mine. I can imagine a real analog version of the EA-1... for less than $400. Could be an April's fool though.

MATRIXSYNTH: New Korg Hardware Analog Coming to Musikmesse?

That link says the photo popped up today when starting a Korg app on an iPad.
It is of course April Fools today, but I really want to believe this one is real.

Ironically, Korg has everything they need to pull this off. It shouldn't be too difficult to stick the guts of a couple monotrons into an EA-1 prototype and just add the digital-analog interface between both designs. And Korg probably knows they would sell a ton of them, too, so I actually believe they will eventually release something like that.

hmmm, possibly.

I guess its the ideal time to release if they do have something. Releasing at NAMM 2011 may have over shadowed their Kronos presentation.

All will be revealed 6th April.......

Im no Korg fan boy, but I hope this is real. I can't see Korg trademarking the name just for an April fools joke?!
I figured and hoped for some time that the Monotron was leading to bigger and better things.. thumbsup

Noticed steps section in the bottom right, so I'm thinking either a ms2k style sequencer for a monosynth or a full on groovebox with monosynth in it. Also, sexy knob and switch choices.

They look like the same switches/knobs as on the Microkorg XL. This looks interesting. Low-cost Tempest alternative perhaps?

If they can get an 808/909 sound but keep it in the same price range as the Electribes they'll have another winner on their hands.

maybe but i doubt it, thats a little too big of a step up from monotron.

if its real, my guess is a monotron-on-steroids, i.e. a more proper monosynth incorporated with their standard electribe shell..sampling drum/sequencer. maybe itll have an option to route some drum tracks thru the filter. but i doubt it will have more than one analog voice (instead of several for proper "analog drums", like tempest or jomox has).

tho i do dream youre on the right track heh

That style of switches suggest to me there is no memory for those parameters. Maybe no memory or digital control of the analogue side of it? That would keep the costs right down, like the Monotron, yet annoy those who want everything on a CC/NRPN. It looks like a winner so far.

Edit: my guess is VA/DSP Electribe with an MS style filter bolted on.

I know I'm probably being overly optimistic (for once heh) but the little "HH" next to the "Active Step" button is seriously messing w/ my mind. That would be fookin' sweet if this thing is a full-blown analog drum synth! Do it Korg! DOOO EEEET!

i think many people hoped that the monotron was a small step back into real analogue..korg realise that people like the analogue warmth that's why they added tubes to the electribe..so it's possible this is real and not a april fools joke.

although you have to realise they have put a ton of r&d into the kronos which emulates analogue synths of old...

we'll see on wednesday....true or false...

price wise if it actually is coming out...less than a tempest...more than a mopho keyboard...

but what of the synth engine?...really basic or something comparable to a mopho, ds10, pro1, sh09?

BTW if the photo above is real...VCA and VCF....so no memories to store/recall
