Synthesizer Troubleshooting

Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased a Dave Smith Prophet 08. When it came in the mail, I discovered that two of the keys won't produce a sound and there is a loose part inside the synth. I havn't tried opening it up yet, but is there a general issue that would cause those two keys not to produce any sound, or could it be a number of things? They are the high C# and D# keys.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

I'm not a synth expert but I'll give as much insight as I can.

First off, you're saying 2 keys aren't working, so you're implying all the other keys work? If so, then those 2 keys may be broken, simply put.

You're also saying there's a loose part inside? That's obviously not good either. This brings me to a more important question. Is the synth brand new? If so, you should be fine as there should be a warranty. Definitely a warranty from the manufacturer and possibly a warranty from the shop you bought it from unless it was a private seller. If it's used, look into it. Otherwise, you're gonna have to find a synth tech who'll do work fixing the issues.

Hopefully I'm wrong and maybe it's some odd feature or function I'm missing. Anyway, sorry to hear about your problem and good luck!
