Vermona kick lancet. They seem to be hard to sell second hand so you can find them cheap. I watched mine go from $300au to $250 to $150 before I bought it as new.

After I got my 909 I set it up with the 909 BD triggering on 1 and 9 and the lancet on 5 and 13. After about 10 mins I got it sounding 99% spot on. I think in a mix it wouldn't be discernible. It sounded just as big too, in fact I think the Vermona can get much bigger, in the bottom end at least.
Most of my stuff is all packed up as I'm moving mid next week but I'll try post a demo of it once I'm set up at the new place.
I took a photo of the settings if any lancet users want to see if it gets them in the ballpark, as I can't imagine that any 2 would be exactly the same.

I'm actually thinking of selling my 909 as I've been using the kick lancet, with a 606 for snare, and a CR-8000 for other percussion, especially the hats and 808 style sounds.
Nothing beats the 909 hats (decay!) ride (pitch knob!) Toms and clap though!

I need about a month to set up the firmware and made the first samples. The 909 part will be an exact replica with added digital control and more ....
And... ?

Last info is from 2012, so I guess it's not coming, sounded interesting though.

Kick lancet can sound really epic. It's a shame that the sweet spot is rather narrow.

Still, epic.

Someone might chop my head of now but .
Roland Aira TR-8 would be the perfect replacement if you ask me.

I agree. The bass drum is worth the entrance price alone. It's a steal.

Oh sorry! MBase 11. I'm told its the same kick as in xbase 999. A friend has that one and its superb. Much more organic sounding than the 909-kick. It just sits in the mix like a twelve ton Buddha.

The problem with the Jomox is one knob for everything. No fun.

On the opposite, the module version seems very interesting but for the same price you can also buy some other interesting things...

Well you can use a MIDI controller to move parameters...

The major drawbacks are the fact that the audio trigger is not dynamic, and that some parameters use the universal CC numbers for reset, which makes them unusable.

I emailed them regarding these problems and all I got back was a rude answer. What a shame.

Yeah but how much do you tweak a kickdrum during recording it?
Its just there, kicking away.

Do you mean that you put the same kick during 5 min without changing it

Bump!

same but with hi hat?

I always use that 909 hh and I want to change. I like the very top end (after being EQ'ed), but 909 hh sound too metallic (you know that peak around 3.7Khz/4KHZ)
I want something similar, any idea?

I listened to tanzbar...too metallic as well...
