Did emulators overheat in concert?

YouTube - Depeche Mode - Stripped live

Circa 1986 London.
At 2:30 and 3:25 you see portable fans on the keyboards of Allan Wilder and Martin Gore. It looks like they are trying to keep the emulators cool.

You sometimes see fans on stage but not very often where they are blowing on a keyboard.

I recall playing a club by the beach where the A/C broke and it was about 85 deg F inside. It really sucked. Our Korg's stayed in tune - pre-1986.

Yes, they did not stand hot venues at all, used to tour two Emulator II's. Did a gig once that was so hot that even the Akai S1000's started playing random samples out of the blue.

The power supplies in all of the Emulators did not like heat very much.

Thanks. Yes I have seen fans behind the stage sometimes for bands. Sort of funny seeing a really big group with $15 fans blowing flat out on their keyboards.

I think our other friends here need to show more Christmas kindness towards Mr. Fletcher.
