it's the only thing i've lusted after in quite a while, and just might be the last piece of hardware i ever buy. still thinking about the Ekdahl Moisturizer, but i'm not sure. i'll probably look into some more softsynths this year as well.

A friend of mine has a Jupiter 8.. which I would love to buy but the taxman needs his cash unfortunately!

Other than that a new Tom Oberheim 2 voice but I emailed Tom and he said that he won't be working on it until the summer at the soonest.

So I might have to spring for the SEM pro instead.

You are the wisest of wizards. It gets to the point where s… breaks faster than you can replace it. Learning to do maintenance can also lead to kit building possibilities down the road.

I'd be happy filling a rack tray.

That being said and in the true GS spirit, but trying to maintain some semblance of reality...
Mono Compressor - FMR PB6A?
Half rack eq - Speck ASC-T equalizer
Utility compressor - Drawmer DL241
GAS compressor - 1968
Alternate GAS compressor - Distressor (any)
GAS microphone of the moment - Microtech Gefell UM70/MV692 - interchangeable M7 capsule?. For eighteenhunert bucks. A favorite of Mercenary’s. How could it possibly suck?
Great River (any)
Apogee Ensemble/ Macbook pro/ Glyph/ Logic
A better place to record

Be well all…dino

Ok, 2011... I plan on getting:

* CS80
* Memorymoog
* Jupiter-8
* OB-X
* Synthex
* Minimoog D
* ARP 2600
* Fairlight
* Synclavier

(awakens from dream... returns to reality)...

Uhh... probably just a Monotron if anything...

I'm going to do the "more music from the gear I have" philosophy too.

Gregory Scott - ubk

I live in "The V" Greg- Airy lofts for rent here cost more than a house in Jersey, believe me. otoh, there's a few live work/studio spaces around here, real pricey, but real big. I'd like to stay in the neighborhood, but commutes to Hollywood for meetings are just brutal, I've found I'm spending more time in the Mid City/Hollywood/Echo Park/Silverlake area than at the beach. just a heads up.

My Bad sorry- My slutty plans so far- I've shut down my D model Synclavier post pro and sent it in for an overhaul (it's second) and upgrade- (for the umpteenth time). going to NAMM to meet Peter Vogel, and hopefully making a down payment for the 30th Anni Fairlight he'll be making. No, I don't believe in platform wars either. I'm then going to have to start, once again spec'ing tone-generators, and sound engines for them- I need Mic's.. Lots of them.. and they're more expensive than my Big Iron ever was. I'll be taking an SGI octane/ O2 C.O.W., "bessie" offline permanently, I'm going to have to refurb my Onyx Towers (SGI will support these in the future under renewable contract, and looks like I'll replace bessie with another C.O.W., made of Tezro's and Fuels (covered until 2012 "at the least" says SGI). Also, I'm going to build a Beowulf compute system out of HP mini desktops, just for giggles. Like I said above, the beach would be nice, but work seems to take me to the aforementioned or Burbank more often than not. I think I should have chosen "Big Iron" as a handle here.. and I'm going to need at least twenty 220/240 volt outlets again. This year is going to hurt a lot, I just know..

Same here, had no major plans for 2011 just a few small bits and pieces, but after seeing the Tempest I can't resist, probably won't be till later in the year though. Also a good excuse to finally sell some stuff I'm not using.

Since I have no serious hardware other than a Maschine, but that doesn't really count as hardware....I have decided I will be buying the Tempest when it comes out as my first major hardware purchase. Slim Phatty aswell.

Your slutty 2011 gear plans.

I don't think I'm confused about my main drum machine purchase now. It's definatly tempest.

Until it's out, need something cheap, which will probably take the form of an mfb 522.

If the tempest can allocate pads/sounds to just midi notes as well, ossu, drummy connecty uppy heaven.

1. An effects processor
2. Adding midi to my polysix
3. Either a good compressor (SSL clone or a Distressor) or possibly a 909. What would be better to buy first if you're working completely in the DAW realm for samples/compression?
I'm also worried about further inflation waiting 1-3 more years to buy a 909

2012 (because I know I won't go too crazy this year and actually get it all)
1. Whatever I didn't get in 2011
2. A new interface

After that I'm done with gear and won't buy anything more unless I make money off music somehow, like shows, which would then be put towards more gear.

- More Eurorack modules
- Audio Interface out of my macbook for numerology
- Boss space echo pedal
- outboard effects (mostly guitar pedals)

Overall I'm pretty happy with my/our set up (my cousin's studio and mine)

the only things I'm really interested in are the Radikal Accelerator and the DSI Tempest as far as new gear goes. There are some vintage pieces I'd really appreciate having of course (prophet 5, Pro one, Elka)

I have some beautiful effects units but I do love me some cheap(er) cowbell though (pedals) I'm thinking of a zvex box of metal and Proco Rat.

More Modules.. MOTM VCO, Modcan VCDO in particular. And then of course there is always outboard. I've been pretty happy with my A-Designs and would love to have the Hammer and Nail.

Post-NAMM wish list

OK, so now that I've seen the toys, here's what I want this year:

1) Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Quad - finally my iMac can run UAD and I can get that RE-201 and Dimension D happening again, plus those tasty compressors.

2) Access Virus TI Polar "Dark Star" - It's sexy as hell and will be perfect in front of my iMac

3) Waldorf Zarenbourg - Yes, it's expensive for what it is, but again, it's all about the design. This is for when I just wanna PLAY and would be in the living room, not the studio
