I just wanted to chime in and comment after receiving my Audio Technica ATHM50 phones.

I too were using the MDR 7056 for around 4 years, liked them a lot, nice to listen but where quite bright. Read a load of reviews regarding the ATHM50 and pulled the trigger and got a pair.

WOW! Amazing headphones. Much more depth in the sound, awesome bass response for producing/mixing on (when monitors cannot be used that is

Reccommended!

How do you guys feel about the pan you get mixing on phones vs monitors? I've got a pair of 701s and while they sound really vivid and three dimensional I often that things I thought were a bit squashed suddenly sound a bit more spaced out on speakers.

I have the Ultrasone 550 and they are the best headphone i've ever had.
The only pair i've had actually that is not ear fatiguing. I can listen 8 hours in a row though them.
The 550's have better bass definition than the 750's, and for dance music, it's all about the bass, ain't it?

Just my experience here, but I have had two pairs of ATH-M40x fail at the same joint within days that were owned for only about a year. The plastic swivel joint on the "cable" side broke at the same place on both sets. That plastic part in is just too brittle. They sound great, but kids gloves people.

I got a great deal on some DT880s, so lets hope for the best.

Just thought I'd throw this out there as far as headphones go: whichever you have I'd recommend getting this.

Sonarworks Reference 4

They have over 120 models profiled at this point.
