Drums interfering with synth

I'm playing around with some dubstep low bass type wobble gritty synths, and I have a drum beat going in Logic. I can hear the drums affecting the synths, like every beat/sound thats played it sounds like the synth is being oddly modulated, like certain parts are getting cut out. I panned the drums to my left monitor and you can clearly hear the weird modulation next to the bare synth. Any idea what could be causing this and how to resolve it? It's not like its extremely noticeable if I were playing live, but I'd notice..

my uneducated guess

phase cancelation

hit the bass line with a highpass filter and cut everything below 60hz and see if that helps

there may be a better freq to cut @ and maybe someone that is more in the know will chime in

Time for a mixing 101 class.

Without hearing an example I don't know exactly what the issue it but it's likely that you have lots of low end in the drums and the same in the synth and they are not working nice together. Assuming that's the case, what you want to do, in basic terms, is lower the volume of a frequency in one instrument to make room for that frequency in another. This is generally done with equalization.

Dubstep mixing. Get an analyzer

Subbass 20-120 hz. Maybe alittle higher

Mid bass 120- and up

Kik 80-120hz

Snare 200 - 250 hz

Notch out where the kick and snare are peaking (at their lower points) in the midbass to give the kick and snare room.

High pass the kick to about 80 and the snare to about 180. Could be lower depending on the sample picked.

The lows come from the subbass underneath the kick in most dubstep I've heard.
