LOGIC annoyance: When composing over a loop, effects die as loop restarts.

So I'm noticing this more & more recently.

I'm not certain it does this with all effects...

Say I have a 4 bar loop rolling whilst composing.
A big reverb on one percussion hit in every bar.
All is well until it gets to the end of the loop, then all the reverb is brutally culled to nothing rather than continuing over the start of the new loop.

Anyone else noticed this?

Anyway I can stop this?

Render 3 loops, pick the one in the center that still has the effects trail from the previous one.

Do you have automation switched on?

You mean the reverb is in the audio loop itself? Thats the only way I can see this happening...

Does this happen in Cycle Mode?

Do you have Smooth Cycle Algorithm activated?

I don't wish to render every time to avoid this... because I'm often still at the stage where I'm constantly tweaking bits.
Too drastic a workaround, but thanks for suggestion.

No automation currently on.

No, there are no 'audio loops' per say... I'm talking about single hits coming from Battery.

Thanks.... this sounds like a VERY likely contender to solve my issue. I've just this second activated 'smooth cycle'... so I'll let you know how I get on.

Okay, smooth cycle made no difference.

To demonstrate what I'm talking about, I've made some extreme demos; I've cranked a long reverb up to ridiculous levels.

I've cheated buy rendering out a loop to audio, then looping it... but basically, this is exactly what I am hearing if I loop around two bars. There is also another demo, of what I'd like to hear; the effect continues despite the loop restarting.

What version are you running? This does not happen here on logic 9.1 using any of the built in reverbs.

For what it's worth, I like the one in which the effect gets cut off. It has more character in my opinion. Not that this helps the situation... so sorry. *shrugs*

Ha ha... no, I know what you mean... when working on previous productions I have actually liked it so much that I've rendered a loop out & used it like that.

Still... this is not an actual track, just an extreme example.

Can be funky sometimes... but annoying when you don't want it!

From other comments here, it looks like I'm not the only one... so I'll just live with it I guess. Another Logic bug!

Two solutions:

1. Use Cubase 5.
2. Use hardware efx.

Why don't you loop a 2 bar section instead of cycling? Logic makes it pretty easy.. Sorry if that is avoiding the question!

this is one weakness about logic that i have always noticed in all the versions iv'e had.. even looping a 2 or 4 bar loop with no fx, it just doesn't loop fluidly in general.

never really tried to remedy it tho, as eventually when i sequence the music into song, that problem will be eliminated.

I fixed this problem by adding an automation "dot" at the very start of my loop ie 16 1 1 1 is where the loop starts so you need one there

What are your audio settings (buffer size, software monitoring, ADC)?
The differences might give a hint, how to solve the problem.
