MYTHBUSTERS: roland jv2080 has 32khz DACS... and jd990 has 44khz

I heard rumors that jd990 has 44khz output and jv2080 has 32khz

even on this forum...

some time ago one guy told me that this is bull**** and only first jv series, like jv880 have 32khz output dacs
and jv2080 has 44khz for sure

i'm reading over and over that jd990 is so powerful...
and sounds pro... and 44khz
prices are going high and jv2080 is cheap as hell

this is little funny

I just recorded factory demos on my motu 828 mk3 interface (48khz)
and i see clearly frequencies over 20khz
I recorded it very good with max signal hitting 0db

next I made second quick test, i chose first high frequency patch i found, A-034 klavinet
I just played random high notes, and recorded it
and??? even better proof, there are many frequencies over 20khz

I observed it on analyzers on audacity and wavelab

so myth busted or maybe i'm wrong??

samples are not 44khz, that's true, but i'm sure that none of '90 modules have samples 44khz or over especially for bass or other samples without many high frequencies maybe only some perc samples, hihats

I remember being on the phone with a Roland technician about ten years ago, long after both the JD990 and JV2080 were released. I was inquiring about sound card availability for the JD990 and he mentioned that the JD990 "was the only 44khz box they produced". I hadn't asked about that, he just casually mentioned it during the conversation....

my test was not really wrong

32khz dac can't produce frequencies over 16k
so my conclusion is right, dacs and audio stream are not 32khz, but 44khz

and i can read it here:

Data Size: 16-bit, 44.1k
Some documentation states 20-bit, however, the DAC IC is a dual 18-bit.

engine is 44khz 16 bits, DACs are 18bit
and sample data is 32k, yes this is right
but i suspected that samples are not 44k

many people think that engine and dacs are 32khz
that's why i wanted to check this

you prove yourself that engine and output are 44khz

but when you have 32khz sample and you up it a liitle, ony few notes you have 44khz
that's why i see clearly frequencies over 16k

sorry, but i was little confused becuase it was unclear for me
i did not exactly know what is 32k, dacs, output feq or samples
