Forgot to post this.. the AMT8 is the 'new' item in question. We'll see if this works any better than my stock midi off the fw interface.

Expect a thread about this soon comparing it to the hearsay about "jitter".

@murphythecat87, the SH-101 is a mad synth, I know I loved mine and may actually get another someday. Very acid

The guy who's selling me his DP/4 has lots of stuff for sale, including a TX81z and an Emu Vintage Keys, which I may also buy. Going to pick it up tomorrow.

So much for downsizing.

Yes! My Future Retro XS arrived today! heh

Here are the very first sound tests I made with it. Both of them use the FRXS's unique accent envelope feature:

I liked the RM2's enough that I decided to get the RM1's for my place in Cali. (My RM2's are permanently set up at my home base in Florida.) They will be replacing my KRK V4's.

I think this explains a lot: RL Music.

I had some mods done to it (blasphemy!!), MIDI and unison mod. Apparently, an earlier model, well kept, regularly serviced and most likely never toured with, as evidenced by the superb condition of it. Just a few nicks in the wood and a dent in the grills underneath.

I just got it, haven't even turned it on yet!! (Have to change the UK plug into Euro..)

Madness, I know!!

Do you think the FMR is up to the task? Their RNC is supposed to be very clean and transparent even when there's a lot of gain reduction going on, but the one you got is supposed to "have loads of character." I'd be interested in your subjective report.
yeah will report back

Yeah, those aren't mint by any means, nor are they worth $600 + a 4 hour drive.

There's a great article on Alesis/Keith Barr and the Midiverb history here.
Fantastic article. Does Midiverb II sound quite different from I? I noticed they switched to different chip.

+1

They are worth more like $400 + delivered to door (given the beaten up condition)

The whole Proteus line (which includes the Vintage Keys) is based on the Emulator III library, so it's very possible that there are similar patches in the EIII and its derivatives (ESI line). I bought it mainly for easy access to organ, string, and EP sounds.

They are in great condition, trust me. The picture doesn't do them justice, because they are a bit dirty. The guy had had them racked for years practically without use, so they got some dust and scratches in the rack holes, but they're in excellent condition and working perfectly, not beaten up at all. I tried them all. No failing screens or scratchy pots or skipping encoders or noisy I/O, etc.

As of how much are they worth, well, let's just say that if I had bought them separately in an online auction site, I would have spent at leasy 50% more.... even on ebay, after shipping and importing taxes.

In keeping with my current cheap effects processor theme:

Also got myself an Olympus voice recorder as a stand-in until I finally get off my ass and mod my portable reel to reel like I've been planning to since the dawn of time.

They sound just like the same model PMC's, though I don't know why Digidesign put some dsp in there to emulate resonances of ported speakers. (You can, thankfully leave this off.) The whole point of PMC's design of having a tuned transmission line out of the cabinet is to eliminate the resonances associated with ported speakers. As a consequence the bass is much clearer through the range of the speaker. And the best part is that (I guess) because the digidesign brand is being replaced by the avid brand, most places put them on sale so they dropped in price dramatically.

All in all great monitors, though the difference in response won't be noticeable in an untreated room.

Similar sort of character but cleaner and hotter levels. Jacks rather than phono connections too. I thought I'd be able to get rid of one when I got the II but I've ended up keeping both. I'd say the MV1 is better at the huge ambient washes, and the MV2 is more suited for percussion. As usual Synthmania has some decent mp3s of it.

You've probably seen this site: [alesis midiverb ii : inside]

There is something about the sound of gear from that era, it's got grit and dimension to it. Today's stuff sounds super clean and smooth.

Hola, I'm another HC export. Glad to see some folks have migrated over here... looks like I'll be lurking on this board more often now hehheh

So... my 2010 all-purpose-pedal board escapade continues. I spotted one of these on eBay earlier today for a good price, jumped on it:

Looking forward to the resulting Famulus/Devistortion shoot-out!
