Elka Synthex Keyboard Synthesizers

Very early Synthex sighting (big pads are heard towards the end of the song) and where else than in Italy:

I bet that's one of the first 50 units built considering this performance was
filmed in 1982.

Here's a photo of the actual Synthex (prototype) that was used on Fabio Frizzi's Manhattan Baby soundtrack
back in the summer of 1982. Frizzi has confirmed to me that Gianni Mazza (the original owner) played the synths
on that particular score using the synthex:

Well all i can say is if one comes up on craiglist or similar, make certain you can go and collect/try it and pay by cash. Also ask for the address so you can check the area etc on google maps. Ive enquired many times for cheap synthex's, jupiter 8's, prophet 5's and oberheims. Every one has been a scam. The obvious is bank transfer, the next is paypal accounts which arn't linked to the sellers own email, Ive had people send me pics of themselves with family, birth certificates and passports and ive even had people say i could pick it up however its always in a almost impossible location and when you say you will collect you never hear from them again. Ive heard many stories of of people receiving empty boxes or boxes full of rubbish. Ive heard people receiving synths with all the insides removed. If you want to risk buying a synthex from craiglist for an advertised non market price then be prepared to consider the risk of a scam is nearly certain. It would take someone with severe mental problems or a pissed off wife etc to sell a massively high priced in demand synth for the cost of a keyboard midi controller. If so just how often would this happen? Sorry but theirs no fooling me

After having mine repaired by James at synth services in the UK due to the previous seller wiring things up wrong, i asked him about future reliability/parts etc. He told me that the synthex is not unreliable at all, its a solid unit and the parts which can fail after many years can be purchased off the shelf, theres no specialist parts, other than 1 or 2, the joystick for one of them which are not known to fail(only damaged) and can still be repaired. I dont know why people feel worried about its reliability tbh. You can fix them yourself and buy the parts off the shelf if you can work an oscilloscope. I was also suprised to hear that he prefers the synthex over his own cs80, I have yet to hear one in person, his has been waiting for repair for a couple of years - parts and time he confessed.

The rarest part is probably the CEM3320 filter chips. I have them if you want any for backups.

Not very often something like this comes up for sale and just down the road from me too, obviously way out of my price range but if someone was interested elsewhere I could assist in someway if anyone wanted..

Now that is one synth someone should attempt a faithful emulation of, before it's too late. Gorgeous, distinct sound and capabilities!

Oh, wait......

Huh. Rumor? True?
