Roland SH-101, Model D, Neutron, DM12, BS2, and Vermona PF2 sitting next to me in my home studio.
In the work studio, we also have a Doepfer modular, VCS3, a few more BS2, Sythi-AKS, a horrible Moog / Realistic-branded mono, Sub37, MS-20 kit, another DM12, and some Pittsburgh modular.
If that's the MG-1 by any chance (I bet it is), give it a chance, please.
I used to have one, and it really excels in beautiful, melodious sounds, not so much basses or the typical Minimoog-style leads. Actually it sounds very much like a scaled-down version of the Liberation (I had them side by side).
Use it for what it is, and don't neglect it just because it's not a Mini...
Though, a reburbed and midified Polivoks and ditto Altair 231 are on their way from Ukraine
ha, that's nothing. as a child i had a russian toy synthesizer, similar to the pif but with a bender. the sound was sawtooth at its best.
real sputnik feelig unfortunately i can't find a picture of him .. but something like that.

I've been trying to love it for years. Keep telling myself: this was made by MOOG! But it still sounds horrible.

And if it sounds like a Liberation, you have a nice synth... I have a Liberation, excellent expressive synth. Even if it is half expressive you are in good shape.

Nice. You added some heavyweights to an already fantastic list, PPG still remain as your fav ?
Yep, the PPG's still my favorite overall - although the OB-X and Jupiter-8 are definitely running it close in terms of sonic quality (while the OB-X's raw creaminess and gorgeous choir-esque resonance cements it as my favorite 'genuine' analog, the JP-8 genuinely surprised me with its sheer girth, intuitive user interface and ear-caressing harmonics), neither (at least subjectively) quiiite match the sheer clangorous frigidity of the PPG. Not to mention that the Juno-6, despite slipping partially below the radar in the context of the price surge impacting its close sibling the Juno-60, has a pretty impressive sonic presence despite its relatively limited specs (particularly the immediacy of its sound, which bizarrely manifests differently in the two units I have - one is darker with a more distinct 'growl', whereas the other is brighter and clearer (and closer to the demos and soundbytes I had heard from the model prior)) and lack of patch storage, arguably moreso than the softer and fluffier tone of the 106.

OK... Not sure where on GearSlutz to post this, but since this is about Analog Synths...
My Yamaha CS-15 has a few keys that are starting to 'crackle' or sound like that intermittently go on and off playing. They also seem delayed in starting the attack on occasion. Is this a sign of some contacts starting to go bad? Something else?
Also, I probably should think about a general maintenance service on it anyway. If this were a vintage Sequential product I'd be sending it to Wine Country as they have always been fantastic. Who would people recommend for a vintage Yamaha? (Or Moog - at some point my Liberation will need a service also...)
What do you think of the Mono Lancet.
I have the 14 and the perFOURmer,
but wondered if that would be too much overlap.
Can you change the Note priority on the Mono Lancet?
Thanks
I love the Mono Lancet! It's been the main bass machine of my live setup for many years.
I don't know if there's some hidden setting to change the note priority, since I never really use it with keys, only sequenced basslines. If I recall correctly it is most likely set to "last note".

Sequential Prophet 6
Roland MKS-80
The Prophet 6 is now gone - sold for a new Prophet 10 which unfortunately won’t be back in stock till January. Quite an expense for 4 extra notes of polyphony and an extra octave of 🎹 keys!
Also waiting for the new (blue) Retroaktiv MPG-8X to ship for the MKS-80.
