I know it has now been sold, but seriously who actually believes these seller stories ?

I mean isn't this just someone who has taken great care of it, a real fuss pot (I know as I'm one of them myself !)

So yes it's lovely, perfect, pristine, whatever !! but please don't come up with daft stories about playing it for one hour, there actually looks like a faint scratch in pic 5 and how hard is it to put a new bit of sellotape to seal the instructions back up.

Upstairs in my house is a lovely brand new Moog Matriarch, I carefully unpacked it and didn't even remove the instructions from the box as I have a PDF on my laptop, the patch leads are still sealed as I never needed these either.
Now I know I won't ever put a scratch or mark on this, even if I keep it for 30 years as I'm that fastidious, the box is somewhere dry and safe with all the packaging materials inside.

What's to stop me (or anyone) listing this on Ebay in 20 years time saying it's only been used for one hour ?

If you were trying to flog something at over twice the going rate, you’d at least do a bit of dusting before you took its photo wouldn’t you? Christ...

It's a vintage dust, gathered from the time the unit was made. It adds a bit of warmth to the unit (preventing ventilation) and a bit to the price.

I get the impression that many guys have no idea what they're selling. They claim that the synth works perfectly once you recieve it you'll notice all kind of problems. Recently I bought a Casio cz1, the first thing I do when I buy a vintage synth is open it and check the internals. This one had a lot of dust inside the unit and some dried leaves, I still wonder how the f they got into the unit. A few keys on the keyboard didn't make good contact. I had to press way harder to get some sound. I can fix electronics this was an easy fix I just had to replace some of the diodes in the keyboard matrix. That fixed it but some of the menu buttons didn't respond properly too. These are just regular 12mm switches an another easy fix but the seller didn't mention any of this. "mint condition" yeah right my ass. That's why I love the B clones.

Have you heard about the natural medicine?
The unit had problems so the previous owner had to do some first aid

Here's one of my favorite eBay scams -- offering an item with a ridiculously low price, but they want to scam out of eBay's fee structure (and subsequent protection) by directing you somewhere else to make the purchase:

Looks like the guy got hacked. 225k plus feedbacks and all in gbp payments, but suddenly its shipping from Chicago? I got hacked years ago and was suddenly selling baby clothes! Always good to look at past sales to see if things even match up sometimes.

Correct. That “guy” is one of the biggest music retailers in the UK.

Can't sellers be bothered to check completed listings for an idea of what their sh*t is worth?

Yep

And here's another Japanese seller with awful feedback

I recall a time when 99.9% of Japanese sellers had impeccable feedback, you really felt safe in their hands and yes you always did pay more, but you got "Mint with a capital M" and super secure packaging.

This guy and some other large Japanese sellers I constantly come across in the listings now are becoming right old clowns

This website looks like it's full of scams, I recommend reverb where they have live phone support and insurance for sellers.

reverb is also full of scam don,t worry. is simply called excellent condition there
but in this case I'm more concerned with the crazy offer, who needs 57 guitars, one for each weekday, early morning, noon, evening, happy hour, midnight. depending on the weather?

Well you could be like that Kevin Shields and have a different guitar tuned for each song.

I think more of spinal tap and the unused guitar that you can hear purely by holding it in your hand

I don't see anything wrong with that item, it's unlikely to sell but that's hardly a scam.

Maybe it's their retirement plan.

I have one too... I found a piece of popcorn that looks rather like the holy mother and I'm keeping it until the time is right to sell it for a 6 figure sum.
