What's your favorite Voyager wood/panel combo?

Just curious to hear which wood and backlight combo people like here... I guess I'm gonna say Walnut/Lunar. Let's hear from you!

I got mine custom done in Lignum Vitae from SynthWood. It's a matrix green Voyager too. So all green!

Lignum vitae is one of the strongest, most dense woods in the world. Very rare and difficult to get these days. Sixty to seventy percent resin by content, up to 40% oil content by weight, its cellular structure is saturated with its own natural oil making it totally self-lubricating. Lignum-vitae's homogenous grain yields a remarkably dense solid which allows precise milling.

Synthwood had to use metal blades to cut the stuff.

Probably the only Voyager in it.

This is my Voyager, mahogany/lunar:

this is the closest that I could get to the actual color of the lights:

I'm into yellow and orange a lot lately - so I'm picking the voyager solar as my favourite.. as for the wood. ash or mahogany.

of course the model D doesn't need any special colours to look even better.

I agree but there is one guy who took an original mini and used
kauri wood and that is the best mini I've ever seen

Kauri wood is old growth wood that has been buried in bogs for fifty thousand years

hmm, it's actually pretty difficult to photograph the lights (they always look kind of blue when i try to photograph them, but it's more of a vibrant purple). take a look at the other indigo lights pictured in this thread for a better idea, but here ya go:

and here it is in action with it's buddy the RME, ha ha:

I dunno- I think its hard to beat the original Walnut Signature models. #144 here reporting in and its amazing. Killer synth. Looks so classy and understated without the backlights and brighter finishes.

Uh oh. Recognizing mostly obscured synths in pictures -- a definite sign of increasing sluttiness. Carry on.

Thanks for the pics, nikseven. I'm still contemplating what kind of wood to go with the Indigo backlight... heh

Whitewash looks nice in some of the low-rez pics I've seen but then again, I'm not sure about that.

So far it's Mahogany......

if that's the case, kauri wood should glow with beautiful colours when exposed to a black light, as petrified wood tends to do. i would love to see a photo of that.

in any case, the natural kauri wood looks really good.

The special thing with Swamp Kauri, it is not petrified. I have a little Kauri in my shop and it shimmers with rainbow colors, but it is extremely difficult to photograph. The piece of wood if have is not exactly dent resistant. In order to get the Kauri to shine, you need to sand it beyond 1000.

The Kauri Story | Ancientwood, LTD.

My Voyager is a simple performer without the backlit panel. The controller wheels have the backlit though. The seller did not know and sold it to me as a Cherry Wood model. However my Voyager is in Oak.

it is odd that kauri wood isn't petrified considering it's age. it usually doesn't take long for wood to fossilize. it must have something to do with the bogs that they're found in, that preserves the wood, much like a bog can mummify a human body. there have been some great archaelogical treasures found in bogs that are incredibly well preserved.

in any case, it would be very cool to own a piece of kauri wood, let alone having a moog set in a kauri frame. when i think of how eldritch kauri is, it blows my fragile little mind.
