Try Sbassship

It's more electro than techno, and not classic, but it's close and also really good.

you should check out dynarec too, not really classic, in terms of age, but if you like drexciya and the like...

and yeah you won't find too many groups that will make as big of an impression. aphex twin and drexciya are like my bread and butter :P

while were on the subject check out classic chicago stuff too like mr.fingers and what not,

speaking of model 500...love this one

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll definitely check all this stuff out. I knew this was the right place to ask; you guys certainly know your techno.

checking some of this stuff out now… some really great **** here.

love that aux88 track, that's the ****!! Love the track by japanese telcom too. Very interesting production on the track by the martians.

That Sbasship track is great. I'm not really even clear on the distinction between electro and techno, but I'm digging this. REALLY sick.

model500, great stuff and seems like a big range of sounds too, the tracks sound pretty different. that track by Infiniti is dope too! I guess this juan guy does model 500 and infiniti, AND cybotron? cool!

would love to hear more suggestions! thumbsup thumbsup

Check out the earlier Ectomorph EPs like Parallax View. Also there's awesome stuff on the Ersatz label: Le Car, Perspects. Yet another Drex side project: Dopplereffekt. Not Detroit technically, but right up this alley are the Basic Channel releases, specifically Maurizio.

All this talk of Model 500 and no mention of Derrick May (Rhythim Is Rhythim)?

Le Car/.ADULT are great. Adam and Nicolla are really nice. I sold Adam my old Pro-One back in 1999. The Basic Channel stuff is a good idea to check as well. The start of the whole Dub Techno sound.

Plenty of great suggestions so far. Surprised that no-one has mentioned Convextion or E.R.P. though - it's the same guy behind both acts, but the E.R.P. stuff is more electro-ey.

YouTube - E.R.P. - Lament Subrosa

YouTube - ERP (convextion) - Vox Automaton

YouTube - Convextion - Premiata

YouTube - TIME LIGHT CURVE - Multipole Vector (Viewpoints Chapter One [AW-Recordings])

This one deserves special mention as one of my favorite remixes ever:

YouTube - Hardfloor - Life We Choose - ERP Remix (Texas Trill Mixes)

YouTube - MUSICOLOGY A1 Fear Of Expression
