just dont do it, you will regret this. i would never replace a 909 snare or a juno 106 pad for a software synth...

I'm a big fan of u-he's zebra 2.2 semi-modular synthesizer. It's got a very powerful architecture that's capable of a wide variety of synthesis--fm, wavetable, virtual analog, physical modeling.

It's attracting some good programmers too.

the Korg Legacy collection can also be worthwhile.

Maybe in 10 years the emulations will be there, but don't sell your 106/808/909. The nord even has a special quality, but is probably the most replacable piece there. The DX7 can be pretty well replaced by FM7.

do tha A/B Test yourself

do the A/B test yourself:
your real juno-106 vs. tal uno-60
i dont like the creamware u-know007 juno-106 replica
but i like the interpole mutonix mutator replica

Home

Download

for pc:
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/downloads/TAL-U-No-60.zip
for mac universal:
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/downloads/TAL-U-No-60.vst.zip

+ novation remote zero sl or remote 61 sl

basement arts frantic filter its great, audio damage bigseq
kjaerhusaudio.com golden
sonic flavours dq7

fm synths sound better in plugins, becouse early FM DX7 was 12-Bit DA chip, unknown jitter wordclock and unknown specs

now you can have a lynx two or l22 , aes16 + aurora 8, or rme hdsp9632 + emu 1820m

the yamaha dx7 II "mk2" was 16-Bit, and the dx200 or plg150-dx its 24-bit
but still way inferior to a lynx two soundcard AD/DA or a RME HSDP9632 SteadyClock(TM) + emu 1820mm AD/DA

http://audio.rightmrk.org

NI FM7 DX7 replica, can load .syx files! for so long i wanted to translate the DX200 patches!

if you still wanna hear the 12-Bits out of your virtual NI FM7/FM8 DX7 replica, you can use any bit & sample rate decimator plugin, basementarts.de frantic filter, waldorf d-pole, mda, etc... etc... etc... etc...

i like the free rebirth 338, rebirthmuseum.com
or the audiorelism abl v2 , 303 replica

also i like verry much the resolutionaudio.nl axs beta v4 for windows
http://www.resolutionaudio.nl/Files/...ows_Beta_4.zip

arturia.com jupiter 8 , its the most asio driver intensive plugin but works flawless with RME HDSP9632 Asio drivers

roland varios8 jupiter8 or 303 emulation

i had real 303, juno-60+md8, the arp2600 and odysey, + lots more
i only miss the matrix1000 and the knobs of the 303
but novation remore sl sems the answare

before yousell your 909 808, sample them with a lynx two
or miniumwith amotu 2408mk2

then you can use a v-sampler 3.x or any otherlike d-dev.com ruction

...get a lynx two a,b or c and sample before sell

i sampled my ex- linndrum lm-2 + additional chips, roland r70 , yamaha ry30 + house&rap, dance&sould cards + alesis hr-16:B and others
with a motu 2408mk2 at 48k 24-bits
now i have a RME HDSP9632 SteadyClock(TM)+ emu 1820m
Im thinking about purchasing a lynx, the AES16 does not have AD/DA but has the 3000:1 wordclock, though, the lynx two has same AD/DA chips as digidesign hd192 and emu 1820m but have better op-amps than emu 1820m, opa vs. jrc
lynx two sounds beutifull
or lynx aes16 + universal audio 2192
ummm

i compared A/B my samples vs. the samples from the zero-g nostalgia dvd, and the zero-g nostalgia dvd same drummachines samples sound like crap

probably was recorded with the worse AD and worse wordclock ever made! worse than genius $5us.dls soundcards
jajajaja
sound dull & lifeless the zero-g nostalgia dvd,

most free internet samples of the same drummachines sound like crap, compared to my samples
...
you can sample your 909/808 with a lynx two and create a rebirth mod!
and use the rebirth amazing sequencer!
or a soundfont for v-sampler / halion / gigasampler
or .wav and use a d-dev.com ruction step sequencer sampler

free rebirth338 v2.01 sounds better than wizoo 909 808 akai cd samples
havent done the A/B test vs. d16 drumazon, so far i like the rebirth more

i only miss the flam button in the r70, and the pitch wheel in the ry30
and able to put my drum machine in my legs

strange but the main output in the roland r-70 sounded less quality than the 3&4 outputs, i guess its becouse the fader
same thing ahpened with alesis hr:16:b and linndrum lm-2

novation remote 61/37 sl seems the answare!

efx are a thought desition

i had the real lexicon pcm42 and i sold it when i heard the pspaudioware.com lexicon psp42/84 plugins,
now i own psp42&84 + masterq but i dont use the masterq

also i had roland sds3000, yamaha spx90, spx990, lexicon lxp15, ensoniq dp4 and others

i miss the crappy gate-verb of the spx90, the song: aqualords - childen of the demon has it in the claps or snare cant remember
but canbe done with CSR or og MDE-x + audiodamage bigseq gate only, or even with kjaerhusaudio.com GAG-1 and some midi notes to trigger the gate

korg mde-x plugins sound verry good, delays sound verry similar to yamaha spx-990 L-C-R delays that i liked so much,
ik multimedia CSR plugins sounds verry good
princeton digital 2016 plate reverb (sadly its mono) not even dual mono

i miss the yamaha ds2416 hi.quality pitch and dual pitch, the only similar pitch i found its dspfx.com dx plugins but, its a crappy interface
havent found a good dual pitch like yamaha

verry used by tiesto and others the L -3 R-12 i think it its
for lead synths

havent found a good distortion/overload plugin, the free pariseq1.1 has a nice saturation but does not work with the multi-cpu turned-on
http://homepage.mac.com/osxlover/Par.../ParisEQ11.zip

also like the dbx160 replica of free antress Antress Modern Plugins
the free ssl plugin KVR: Solid State Logic LMC-1 - Virtual Effect
izotope ozone eq sat has another similar distoriton but...
tracks clipper also a nice but...
the 4front auxiter sounds verry good, better than any other exiter ive tested so far:
yohng.com' :: 4Front Mastering Bundle

the ik multimedia amplitube jimi hendrix edition, the ni guitar or the waves grt sometimes sound good, but ...

i miss the mic-pre overload of the mci jh-416 console in almost everything
eventhe mackie crappy cr1604 , or the mackie 24.8 bus mic-pre overload

specially with the +12 pitch ride cym of the ry-30 house & rap / dance & soul soundcards
sounded so crispy, and warm, and claps also was great

some day im gonna have a john hardy m-1 with in-out transformers of my own (dont have to rent it anymore) to make a pass-through loop-back DA-->M1-->AD
of the sounds and get that mic-pre overload with transformer sound imposible to have with plugins

i a/b tested lots of mic-pres but so far JH M-1 its the one im crazy about
the hhb radius 10 sounds darker diferent but also nice

novation remote sl comes with novation bass station plugin

the novation remote zero/37/61 sl
comes with novation basstation plugin, sounds great

for so long i have wanted to buy a tc powercore just for the roland sh-101 emulation
just hear the mp3 demos
Vengeance - sound.de >>> ...patches for your synthesizer

i like verry much some of the NI pro-53
and the gforce oddity also i had the oddysey and arp2600
timewarp2600 vs. aruria arp2600, the arturia.com arp2600 its more complete, but i like more the sound of the timewarp2600
im eager to hear the demo of the new kikaxxe also from wayoutware

i miss the..

i miss the
juno-60 overloaded to ---> aural exiter 104
or tuching the tip of the 1/4" cable-->aural exiter--->promix01 reverb
or tb303 --> dbx 120xp (can be replaced with IK ampeg svx octaver, even with free mda)
www.mda-vst.com
http://mda.smartelectronix.com/vst/mda_vst_fx_win.zip

vocoder arboretum hyperprism 25 dx better than tc fireworxs, waves, nuendo, akai vst, etc..

tube emulation:: voxengo warmifier
tape emulation:: voxengo tape bus, cakewalk fx2, izotope ozone, arboretum tape/tube

there are others nice like chamel phat 3.x
CamelPhat- Drums & Guitar Multi Effect - VST plugin, Audio Unit
a nice .mp3 drum loop demo:
http://www.camelaudio.com/music/Came...ums-Baggio.mp3

:::: Basement Arts Digital Signal Processing ::::
sadly demo .dll its too shot, play with the prsets, are great

nice one sexxy! that was a lot.

for me i liked the drumazon better then the real 909. how could that be? well, i grewup producing with samples from vengeance, and listen to the drumazon 1st than the real 909.

finally one day i sat down with a real 909 and i was so disappointed. i was like... is that it??!!! thats the big deal everyone making about the real 909. you dont have as many sound options as many other emulations or synths. nad the sound was not all that amazing.

and saying that it sounds warmer or that its OSC are analog so you hear the "analog" of it drifting over time or that hits will sound a bit different its way to much BS. you or no one will never ever ever ever ever listen to that ****.
as for a real synth for leads and bass lines well maybe. but if everyone grew up listening to clones or software synths and like it and got used to it, which then would sound better, the clone or the real ones?

drumazon already sounds great, clean and crisp was a breeze to use and could automate cool sounds. and there are way to many options to process the samples nowadays.

but i would recomend keeping the nord. what nord do you have? the modular is incredible and the nord lead sounds very good.

Some very good stuff.... I don`t know about selling, maybe just changing the work-flow. The d16 stuff seems really good, and I really just use the 909 or the 808 as a sample source.

sexxy, some excellent stuff, I would have to check out.

I see Arturia is going hardware now.

Nah. You should definitely sell your hardware synths/drum machines and switch to software. Software sounds much better - trust me....really, it does.....!

Oh and by the way -- Since you won't be needing it anymore, I'll gladly take that crappy old 808 off your hands.heh

Well a friend of mine used to have like 60 hardware synths, including some rare moogs and virtually whatever was in the market. He sold them all, an now he works in a small laptop. He says that software sounds way better than hardware, and you do not have to pay energy bills...

Now he can breathe in the room he works...

For me a hybrid setup works very well. Patchbays and high quality cabling throughout play an important role as well as an Xtramix to tie it together and some DIs and line amps.

There's a couple of software synths that work very well for me. They are not better than hardware. Hardware is king in the element of random "on a molecular level". Software of brand XY will sound THE SAME in ANY setup. Vintage analogue machines do not. Also because they've aged and the parts are from that age and do not sound like modern machines. (like good wines )

Personally I make gear choices based on what inspires me not based on what the lowest common denominator accepts as passable.

Actually, he got broke buying all that stuff and could no longer pay the electrical bill......

He needed to sell it to survive. Hence he telling everyone it sounds much better from the laptop.

At night, when he´s alone in his bed, he cries to sleep. Wishing he hadn´t sold his hardware.

true, but im talking about for example the sound of the 909 for electronic and hiphop music. why do we use the 808 or 909 for hiphop and electronic music? when in 1986 or so everyone hated it. it was picked up in pawn shops and sold for cheap to make new music. the new music became popular and now a 909 is about a grand or so.

or why neve and certain instruments that relate to albums that sold millions, stuff from the beatles, pink floyd etc. they sound good but they have a sound that people are after. that "colored" sound.
