i thought the 700 from korg was a cheapo entry level synth sold in catalogues
back in the day so the everyday person could buy a synth at a couple of £ a week....

this rrp reads like it's exclusive and for the GUCCI® crowd

rrp has to be an error....
£1200 would be more like it for a limited run.. but £2000? ..... flippery flops....

This looks soooooooo good... why doesn't this website have a drool emote?

Anyway, price feels in line with their other full-size limited run reissues. I don't think they're going to do a smaller spin-off of this one, doubt it has wide enough appeal, so less opportunities to earn back their investment. It's a surprise they've done it at all really. It looks like no expenses were spared in bringing back this dinosaur.

It even has aftertouch!

It's got a really strong boards of canada vibe to me. It's not particularly full of features or fat but it does lovely drifty leads nicely.

Some tracks featuring the 700 / 700s:

The Normal's Warm Leatherette and T.V.O.D is all 700s



Greg Hawkes of the Cars also used a 700 (the single oscillator version). Can be heard as the synth part on Just What I Needed

Kitaro was also a big user, just saw this video posted

Is it a real spring reverb? (like on the 2600M)
i hope so...
Nice to see that they included protrusionless sliders for the filter! so many (me included, on the PE1000) did the modification by chopping off the stop or just inverting the knobs.
I really hope the nailed the traveller filters, its one of the must beautiful filter i ever heard.

Same as 2600FS... don’t know what to think of it.

Funnily I doesn’t bother as much on a mono where I almost always want aftertouch but seldom velocity.
On polys though I use both...

It looks like a NOS vintage Korg. That's great, but at that price I would expect something like a Maxi-Korg (at least). It's a nice thing for collectors.
