The linndrum is full of analog stages (see below) + good luck to emulate the sequencer behavior.
Putting samples in a digital machine even perfectly recorded wonโ€™t get you there...
Quote from KB (Iโ€™m lazy to write it myself)

LinnDrum is definitely digital, but actually has quite a bit of analog control for it's digital voices:
- uses VCO's to drive EPROM voice readout; a few of these VCO's have CV inputs (TOM/CGA, SNARE/SIDESTICK)
- uses analog filters (CEM3320's) on bass, tom, and conga voices
- uses analog VCA (CEM3360) for highhat decay.

that 3d circuit board pic has a LCD display on it.. so maybe they will expand on the capabilities, maybe add and FX engine, sample naming and also a SD card for user sample loading?

Tempest owner here, what the Tempest really lacks is memory, it has only 4MB internal flash memory like it's 1990. If Behringer is going to clone a DSi Tempest they should add more memory, sampling capabilities and the option to save everything on your SD card.

The original Linndrum soundboard, I wonder how this will be translated to the new one, as we could not see the second board yet under the control board...

Perhaps one memory chip with an arm processor and maybe a dsp (Sharc or Analog Devices like in the Deepmind/X-Air mixers)

Isn't the hihat also a free running oscillator, or am I confusing it with the LM1?

Well, we don't actually know if this is a clone of a Linndrum or not - it is all just guessing based on a computer generated image of a circuit board vaporware type of thing.

Funny now to see the old circuits, one chip per sound!

Because it IS a Linndrum clone, thats why. Seems like you hate Behringer lol, why do you even post in a Behringer topic?

Take it down a notch.

I own three Behringer products and have a 2600 on order. Try again. It's not "hating on Behringer" to say that everyone is speculating - I have yet to see an announcement that this is actually a Linndrum clone. Can anyone point to where Behringer has stated it is yet? All I see is a computer rendering of a circuit board.

I have a few of these:

Had to replace foam in them which nobody sells separate? Maybe Behringer can.

Ethics aside, I've just lost confidence in Behringer's reproduction attempts. Too many different teams with too many different results. Some did a really good job with the sound I think. Some missed it by a bit and some by a wide margin. The build quality overall seems to be ok to good. Graphic design and aesthetics is below average to poor. Firmware is shockingly bad for such a big company. I'll still be closely watching the Solina repro with a very decent chance I'd pick one up, but nowadays I just roll my eyes at these announcements. They just are too far off from the synths they are trying to recreate and have nothing else to redeem themselves. It really is starting to remind me of fake Polo shirts or something.
