Looking at the YC demo, it really does sound AMAZING.

It's the reason I have both a Montage and a Jupiter XM. If you're in a band, they can do maybe 50% (being conservative) of the sound of what you get with a good analog synth (at least as far as a live audience would be concerned) but with the right programming/split you also have a host of great sounding instruments to "fill" out your band's sound.

I guess it is worth asking, what does Yamaha "lose" by sticking with this format?

For those who make money from gigging and will reinvest their earnings with Yamaha's future editions, it's a swiss army "sword." The YC/CP have an amazing feel that I can't seem to get with SV nor Nord . I wonder if they've realized theres so much available that you can have as an add on, doubling down on the stage piano and improving the already great instrument samples will keep people coming back/upgrading.

I remember Dave mentioning something about newer workstations are really just the same formula as their predecessors, but with better/bigger samples, so he spends his creative muscle on newer ideas. Most of us have gear from more than one company...does it make sense for them to invest a lot in a niche product, only to have to compete with Korg/Seq and all the boutiques, when you can be a true GS and just buy both (after all, you only have two hands)?

Korg clearly has been busy, but sadly no new Electribe Sampler... The one thing I was hoping for. Well, I guess they're done for now so that was a bit of a bummer
Now if Yamaha drops that Reface SY it'll make me a very 'appy man indeed! C'mon Yammie do it!
I wanna see Yamaha re-issue the VP-1.

The only thing KORG said in the demo was nothing has been confirmed...

I have not seen any other authoritative updates so far...

Usually the last 2 days of NAMM are when the Eurorack stuff gets a little press attention. Did anything get released? I haven't seen a thing.

same here. with the drumlogue far from completion, no demos on the korg wavething (already forgot its name) there is nothing that interests me so far. have't seen any reports for pro gear or live gear either. maybe they will come later when sos or others start writing reports.

Let's face it, the manufacturers have chosen to release stuff more spread out over the year instead of releasing them at NAMM. Sequential released the Prophet-5, Arturia released the Polybrute etc. They could have waited until now, but why should they do that when it's just a virtual gathering and they would have to fight with attention from other releases at the same time.

There were a few announced earlier in the thread I think...

And here is one: Soundforce VCF/VCA 6, Eurorack Interpretation Of The Juno 60/106 Filter

I think you are right... They did that to a degree before the Pandemic. This may have pushed them over the edge - that said; this is a time when all eyes are on the manufacturers to see what happens. For synth makers, SuperBooth is a better event anyway IMHO.

In a lot of ways I prefer releases throughout the year. It keeps the GAS a bit more contained...

This pedal looks interesting... Would be great for some ambient stuff.

While I don't own any Earthquaker pedals, I find them and Hungry Robots the most unique out there and the most desirable (along with Strymon).

I'm in someways glad so far so that I don't get more GAS... I half expected a new announcement from Analogue Solutions and/or Dreadbox. Last year Dreadbox rolled out their Chromatic Series about this time... (I think it was just after Winter NAMM.)

I'm all for new flavors of filters but that layout looks weird to me. Maybe I'm just used to the knobs on the top jacks on the bottom design (unless it's MakeNoise in which case it's more of a Jackson Pollock approach).

The poly ADSR, VCO and VCA have been out for a while. I'm not sure if their's new stuff.

I thought their most recent release was the weird turny joystick.
