Babylon 5 was definitely rendered in LightWave on Amigas. STNG apparently did some work on Amigas, but I think the bulk of their CGI was done on SGI machines.
Wait, are you guys saying that the Iridium is running on old SGI machines?
We had those at my college. I was so excited to dig into Alias Wavefront. Instead they made us code directly in C. It was excruciating for me, as I’m not great at coding By the time they let us use software Maya 1 was out but we only had access senior year and rendering was incredibly slow. I actually ditched the SGI/Maya lab and did my projects in Lightwave on a Mac just so I had it to myself.
I'm actually really enjoying watching people who still have disposable income scrambling to find ways to buy all the hot new things coming out. I guess money really does create problems!
