I installed the demo and woooow this is the most unstable software I tried in my whole life. Crashes within seconds all the time, taking Logic with it, one time even the whole OS. Booo!

Sorry to hear that it's crashing your DAW, I have not tried the demo, or the real deal. I wonder why it is causing your issues, given they should have tested this plug-in extensively with major DAWs, on Mac and PC before releasing it.

I also wonder this. I have hundreds of plugins such as NI Komplete Ultimate, Plugin Alliance, Acustica Audio, Valhalla, U-He, Tokyo Dawn, Melda Productions... While UAD definitely has seen more stable days than since their latest release (and even there at least their plugins don't crash), nothing ever has been remotely as bad as this new Xils 201 Vocoder Demo. I can't even remember any plugin of any brand ever crashing at all. Insta uninstall

You can always email them about this issue, and see what they say.

I still think that Image Line’s Vocodex is good. I keep thinking I should get the XILS ones, because they really do a good analog vocoder emulation, but when I had a really good one (I forget the name, but Xavier from XILS coded it) and it got abandoned, and I never replaced it, because whenever I get a vocoder I play with it for an afternoon and then never use it again.

Despite the hundreds of plugins working flawlessly on your PC, there is still a chance that the problem is on your side - if other people have it working on their systems.
Xils is one of the best plugin developers, so being "done with them" is kinda like shooting yourself in the foot.

Reaktor hands down , you only need to know how to use the voice module and parallel voices ( nr of voices define the number of bands )

Nope, I didn't try it yet. But the XILS 5000 has the vocoder sound I was looking for.
Clear, warm and very convincing.

None is better. They sound rather different though they are both emulations of analog machines. And sound really different from Ovox, which Vocoder functions are more formant based.

The 5000 is more complex, but the x201 (emulates the Sennheiser VSM201) has some unique controls, and is already rather complex/deep (2*20 bands filterbank).

Here's the X201 in a kind of Daft Punk fantasy. (btw working in Cubase and all my hosts) + how to use it in Cubase for basic task (make a human voice 'sing')

and another one showing how to re-harmonize, re-shape etc a Rhodes EP loop (Which is a bit beyond Vocoders standard use, but can be interesting)

You can use an external synth for the carrier, or any other signal.
There's a bundle to get both for a better price too. And you can upgrade from V5000 to the bundle for 39€ iirc.
