She wasn't aware of the balance from when you had previously gone over the decision to purchase the items, with her?

Wildly unpopular opinion for this forum, but if you’re sharing expenses (house payment, groceries, utilities, etc) and building a savings account with your wife, than you should be up front about major purchases. Whenever people here talk about how they have to hide their impulse synth purchases from a significant other all it reads like is an impending divorce

I’m totally up front with my wife on my purchases, but it can totally be one sided. She sees my “presents” as being 100% for me, which is true, but she sees her presents (traveling and kitchen stuff) as “for the family.” While it’s true that I do enjoy the food she cooks, I actually find the level of fancy she goes for to be not worth the clean up that ultimately falls upon me, and I really hate traveling. I don’t care how much I love you, after a couple of solid days together I’m wishing I could be alone in my studio for a solid week. Anyway, let’s just say that I’ve seen our hotel bills and I’ll tell you that if we skipped one vacation a year I could add a Moog One to my studio every year. The level of scrutiny that my purchases get is way higher than I do to her. I can’t really complain because the truth is, I already have more than enough of everything.

Clearly you need to get rid of the kids. Then there's no need or justification for vacation.

Balance?
Seeing?
That's a nightmare of a trainwreck in a flaming tailspin.

Adding 'disaster' to the already toxic stew is a power move.

This concept is weird to me... every grown man has something in the tool shed, gun safe, golf bag, studio, etc that he didn’t clear with his partner... “oh, THAT? I’ve had that guitar/driver/rifle forever, honey!”

BUT, damn, brother... a whole revolving credit account?

Yes, you will have to order pots & pans instead of the new modular deluxe with flashing lights.

Your spaghetti will be much more edible, but not near as tasty.

And if you need to scratch that itch, there's always cake.
