Well I skimmed through the Massey book, and tried a couple of his little sonic tutorials. Main takeaway is this:

1) DX's do not update their sound in real time.
You have to repeatedly re-trigger a key to see how your new parameter changes take effect.

2) He explains how to generate pulse wave sounds of various width.
Just generate a square wave (2:1 ratio), then increase the carrier wave's ratio up and up (2:3, 2:4, 2:5).
This is not PWM, but there are interesting sounds nonetheless. I like 2:5 because its got boom.

Thor's pdf is a pretty good read too, a bit more practical and to the point, and much shorter.

Hand's on is still the best approach, although reading can take you places where you may not have gone.

Fire! Used to be "lit" a decade or two back. "Hot" before that.

Is "cool" still relevant? I think it's the longest running slang word that's still in use (besides swear words of course).
