Korg to release full sized ARP 2600

According to Jean-Michel Jarre, Korg will release a full sized version of the ARP2600 in the beginning of 2020.

(MODERATION EDIT - HERE IT IS https://www.gearslutz.com/board/korg...600-fs-g61798/ )

He talks about it in his most recent FB live video at around 55:00.

So if KARP do their 1:1 full sized 2600, and BARP still keep the 2600 rack idea from their concept a few years back.. we can have the best of both worlds. Hurrah!

Took their sweet time!

I dread to think what it'll cost, considering the Oddy FS. I guess still below a vintage unit.

It's a good thing though. More 2600s on the market gets a big thumbs up from me! (I suspect when it's out I shall only be able to afford the Behringer version- lots of other GAS to satisfy in the meantime)

is that because of the many foie gras or champagne.
if that's really true i'm curious about the price.
certainly limited like the ms20m / fullsize, unfortunately.

the question is where is the advantage of a fullsize.
i found the macbeth m5 big enough

They had better not use the same crap keybed as they tried to use on the Odyssey FS....

Considering that the original Odyssey cost $900-plus originally, the price of the KARP is pretty reasonable. Unless you want every synthesizer made by Behringer... if so, just say so.

I think the FS Odysseys were built in New York though by coffee hungry hipsters, right? So I'd imagine these are built in a cheaper location.. JMJ does say "much cheaper" than the originals are on ebay these days at least..

It’s good to see Korg making a move. Behringer can’t be the only game in town.

I've always wanted a 2600. But I'm almost 49 now and have too much stuff. I feel like I've missed my window on holy grail gear and would just like more time to be creative. I can buy anything but time to use it.

Part of me wants a mini 2600 but most of me wants a full sized with speakers and real spring reverb including the separate keyboard.

I mean good on them they own the name right? Now come out with my Solina clone already!!!

Thanks for daring to write this. A mini version would be more convenient and a more certain aquisition as far as I'm concerned. But yeah, there needs to be room for the spring tank, and longer faders is also better for controlling it. Perhaps they could have the keys transmit velocity and aftertouch to justify the size.

Korg Arp 2600. Full size with keyboard, speakers and spring reverb?
Calling it now: $1,500-2,000
There's no way Korg is going to offer it for less than that.
It might also be a "limited" thing like the full size Odyssey and MS-20.
The Odyssey FS was $1,500.
The MS-20 kit was $1,300.
I'm predicting this will be $2,000

That's a steep price for a mono from Korg. It will be up against other luxury monos like the GRP A2 and the Analogue Solutions Fusebox.
At that price if it doesn't sound spot on, I think it will be unforgivable.

I'm glad Korg is doing it (if they really are) but based on the price of their FS Odyssey, I'm concerned that they'll price it at $1999 or more. The original Odyssey was essentially a scaled down version of the 2600, so I wouldn't expect Korg to price their 2600 below their price for the Odyssey. I'd sooner buy the Behringer version, as I'm just not ready to spend that much on a retro analog monosynth.

I'd be more excited for a full size MS20 mk3 with 20m features added. In non kit non limited run.
