TB303 synced by TR707 (track writing issue)

I use a Roland TR707 to sync a TB303.
Writing patterns in the 303 works great - BUT I`m having huge issues writing tracks while it is connected to the TR 707 - anybody else having this issue?

I think the problem is due to the Run/Stop button on the 303 being "out of function" while the TB 303 is connected to the TR 707. Pushing the Run/Stop button are essential steps in initializing and finalizing a track on the TB303. I thought the "Start button on the 707 would work "by proxy" but so far I`m having no luck!
Any workaround? Would rather not connect/disconnect the devices repeatedly because I`m afraid of damaging the din sync inputs.

Best regards,
