Logic: ES M Bassline

Hey there,

This is my first post... I was wondering for a bass like the ES M, which I typically layer for a lower-mid bass, if you should keep in a constant pattern. Or do most of you guys typically switch it up a little on the drop? I always add something or switch up my highs at the climax of songs, but should I stop there? Do I use a varying bassline as a rhythmic device? Or keep it the same to establish a constant groove? Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers!

Write with ES M, replace with actual bass guitar or some combination thereof.

Thanks, that's generally how I do it. However, I was talking more so about the pattern itself.

It depends on the genre - but as a bassist, I tend to play in the middle of the neck and "bounce" off the open strings for a bit more movement; on keyboard instruments, whole-tone modes provide a pretty good place to start (there are exactly two, lol).

I'm classically trained, but I prefer to leverage my technical inexperience on some instruments to get to where the song needs to be.
