I had the chance to lock in a Korg 2600 reissue for January, but I now I feel even better about passing it up. I love this synth, but I don't know if I love it enough to drop $4k. I'm bummed Behringer's lacks a real spring and the speakers, but those are okay tradeoffs for me when we're talking about a difference of $3k+. Extremely excited to hear that they're starting to ship already!
I wonder what would happen if you VPN using a European server?
Tried that, doesn't work. When it comes time to calculate shipping cost to North America it won't let you pass that point. I think part of the problem is they aren't allowed to hold funds that they haven't charged VAT on which would be the case with
a foreign preorder.
I could have it shipped to a friend in the UK or Europe (Who wants to be my 2600 mule? Anyone? Anyone?) but then I'll end up paying shipping twice, VAT once, and get dinged for GST+duty when it enters Canada -- probably will double the price of the synth.

i think i would rather wait tbf , that is a whole load of mither and we still have to wait for shipment xxx to get here anyway, it'll likely hit worldwide all @ once come Jan / Feb
.. and let all the pre-orders beta test the hell out of it first
and get all the problems.
never an early adopter be.
if beta testers enjoy doing what they do then good luck to them.
i aint a beta tester. i want something to work straight out of the box.
if company X wants me to beta test anything then they can bloody well pay me.
and get all the problems.

To be fair, I was an early adopter of three of their synths, and they all turned out pretty good.
I was an unintentional beta tester for another company’s new product recently. On one hand it was a couple of weeks of frustration I could have done without. On the other hand after those couple of weeks when all the problems were finally sorted I still had the product before most people were getting their hands on it, and it’s been wonderful ever since.
I have a very different take on that BLUE MARVIN quote : if there’s no mention anywhere of »Arp 2600 » in the notice, couldn’t it just be that Behr cannot or do not want to use the Arp name, hence the BLUE MARVIN wording for the original Arp 2600 ?
That's a good theory. Cept my source says a Blue Marvin Version for Behringer with the spring reverb was designed.
Not saying we will see that in reality, but passing on the info.
