Superbooth19: REON comes to Europe: Driftbox and Wizlink (prototype)

REON is big in Japan! They were showing their popular Driftbox series of sequencers, synths, mixers. I particularly like the sequencer, with the two joysticks and multiple destinations it offers. Funky!

The Driftbox RE-501w

Next to that, a prototype of a system they call Wizlink.
It looks like Eurorack, it's compatible with eurorack, but it's not!
Behind the panel the modules are interconnected to a digital patch manager. Using this, user configurable patches can quickly be made. The eurorack inputs at the front override the digital ones. So, it's the best of both worlds? Or not? Should they just forget the modules and do this with a semi-modular synth?

Would be cool if Korg UK finally manages to bring them over. Every time I go to Japan i see them in all the shops over there. Cool devices. Hopefully they won't cost too much compared to the japanese market

Korg, or Roland? At the time of the AIRA Series introduction, Roland and Reon had paired up for a green illuminated Driftbox model.

yes, roland did have that collab with reon. but the company that is importing them in the EU is korg uk. which is a big distributor afaik, and a separate entity from korg japan. kinda how korg usa handles waldorf as well (in the US)
