Synthesizer UX - Why they make me use my nose for latch ???

I have a UX pet peeve... The latch/hold function on a synth that sustains the key so you can noodle around with the various params on the synth, ok; WTF is it always put way over by the pitch wheel, where I have to use the tip of my damn nose to enable it, else lose my selected keys?? Sorry Im not GMO with 10inch fingers, nor Shaquile O Neal. How bout putting this functional key somewhere functional, like above the keybed near the center? Sure in some cases I will still have to use my nose but wth is it doing all the way over there in modulationville? Several synths and they all do this, WHY?

I only have 10+ sustain pedals, all in storage. I think I just realized this is more of a "in transit" issue. Thanks for chiming in....
