A 3rd Party Minisynth Idea

You know Minisynths? We're talking that category of portable machines like:

Microkorg/Microkorg XL
Alesis Micron/Akai Miniak
Novation Mininova
Roland JD-Xi

And even synths like:
Novation Bass Station II
Korg Minilogue/Monologue

They all do a lot and sound fairly good. But what are the top 2 complaints about them? The keys and the UI.

The keys are too small and cheap feeling. (or in the case of the decent full-sized Bass Station II, only having 25 keys.) And don't get me started on the menudiving.

So what do people do? They play them with controller keyboards. Or they chop the keys off to make a module. And the program them from computer editors. Or they use them as-is and complain.

Proposal One:
A new custom housing for the original circuit boards. It would be a knobby UI. You'd get this box, it would be up to you to dissect your minisynth - pop in the guts, connect some ribbon cables and whatnot, and hello near 1:1 control and a new look.

Proposal Two:
A block of custom dedicated controls that would replace the keybed in a minisynth. Just pop out those babykeys and install - instant module with way more control.

Either idea would have a lot of potential customers. How many dinged-up Microkorgs and JD-Xi and Mininovas are out there?

Controllers are the easy part, the voice boards and screens are already out there, the MIDI is all documented...

MiniAK doesn't have mini keys (same goes to other units like MicroX or Xyo); it's not 25-keys either (Venom is 49-keys)... IMO the form factor is not an issue - these units cater to a specific market segment. That being said, I'd prefer them with a multi-touch keyboard like Uno's, instead of the classic paino keys, but hey
