Important question - what’s the monosynth doing that sweet bassline? It’s not a Moog filter but what is it?

When they were touring for this Stewart had a Prophet 5 and a Minimoog pulling synth duties. Great album, I have it on vinyl

Cool. That Bassline doesn’t sound like a mini at all right? Hmmm. Prophet 5

Hi all,
Nice to see other fans of this album.

I would have to cast my vote that the Hell's Bells bass line is the Minimoog.

I believe for this patch, Dave Stewart is using the Mini's filter modulation switch to route oscillator 3 (tuned to a high-ish frequency) via the mod wheel, to the filter.

As Dave Stewart is playing the Mini bass, he is playing the higher octave part on the Prophet 5. At least, that's my guess.

Model D. Great album. Recently got the boxset with 5.1. Awesome.

I think you can hear the Mini's character in this live version:
YouTube

And speaking of live versions, I just found this excellent version with Marcus Ryle playing the synth bits on an Oberheim Matrix 12:
YouTube

Cool stuff!
