Connect USB to rd8
Have to turn rd8 on for it to detect to update
Click update
Then have to turn rd8 off quickly and reboot it with pin in?

But the moment you turn off rd8 the update cannot detect for update..
Click update on syntool, now press the pin with unit on, update will start automatically

Just tried the above solutions including the one I quoted. Unfortunately, no joy.

OK so you don't need to turn it off and then on with pin in after hitting update?

Just hit update and am holding pin in.. Completed status not moving at all..

Have you installed or updated drivers with Zadig? Or whatever it is.

I ballsed up the zadig driver install which now means synth tool won't recognise the RD-8, but it did work before that. So perhaps dealing with that process is what's holding you back?

I'm giving up and trying again tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's my own fault. Not that it's super easy to deal with - hence my cock-up.

Because so many have trouble installing the firmware I tried it now, it took me 2 minutes to update to the new firmware... no problems at all, and I have a first production run unit... it's so easy to do.... how can you mess it up ?

Could this just be a usb issue, then? We seem to have the same issue that as soon as the unit is powered off, it is no longer seen by the tool, even when it is powered on in dsu mode?
I have tried to install the zadig driver and that said that it had successfully installed... no idea.

The td-3 and rd8 connect without issue. It is only when I restart the rd8 with the pin in but I will try. Thank you!

Good news.. Your advice totally did the job.. Thank you thank you thank you... So here is what I had to do..

https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare...rmware-update/

Had to follow the advice above.. Installed the old update driver.. Updated to older firmware... Then flowed the update instructions in synth tool and worked like a charm..

Big thanks to sweetwater website too.

These instructions worked perfectly for me on a Mac.

i do it like this:

power rd8 up
open synth tool - it sees rd8
click update which is inside the synth tool
get pin out and turn rd8 off
press pin in dfu slot and power up rd8
synth tools offers an update click
do it

wait

follow instruction on rd8 or synthtool screen which probably says restart, job done

i am running beta and my updater is different right now but the above always worked

For me on windows (on a laptop that wouldn't work with the old update) this is what I did,
1. Fire up the RD-8 and connect it to the PC
2. Run synth tool and it should show the RD-8 and you can click on [Get Started]
3. Click on update (on mine the update page came up automatically)
4. Turn off the RD-8 and turn back on but with a pin or an item on similar size to hold down the DFU mode button in the hole next to the USB port
5. Once powered up RD-8 should look "dead" and synth tool should start updating and the pin can be removed
6. one the update has transferred the display on the RD-8 should display "wait"
7. "wait" will disappear from the display and the RD-8 will automatically reboot finishing the update process.

This is how I did it too, I think Behringer maybe have the instructions round the wrong way.

out of interest, how long am I supposed to 'wait' for? Because it turned from 'wait' to ' a t' and isn't doing much at the moment.

Ok checked all the features but maybe I missed the line in the update text about *wiping all my patterns*

Obviously ymmv and this may have something to do with my perpetual β€˜wait’ing and powering off and on again after 10 minutes or nothing but...well I’m glad I wasn’t wedded to the patterns!

Ok, it's just a wrong power supply...18v...
But i don't know if i should pursue this, i'm trying to update my model d, no joy for the moment, and the rd-8 seems a little more tricky...

are you sorted?

the synth tool does not see it when powered down that is why two pages ago i detailed what to do

have rd8 turned on

open synth tool so rd8 is seen

click update - synth tool tells you to dfu mode the rd8

power rd8 off

press pin in for dfu first and hold it in while powering back up

synthtool now offers an update button

click it

take pin out of hole

wait for rd8 and/or synthtool instruction

power off, back on and sorted

I had the same thing too m8 all buttons lit on so I factory reset* my RD-8 and it behaves as I think it should now, all lights off when pressing Settings>Prob (step 9) its the same with Flam (step 10) all lights off instead of on.
